Even if they do, you're not gonna get to use him for a good long time. He could be a decent counts-as Cassius, I think.

There are rumors that Old One Eye will be brought back in the Tyranid codex but that may have been debunked. Considering he was gone in the previous dex that would be just what you're talking about.

Old One Eye is listed on the GW site and in WD as a Heavy Support option, so he's back. I'm sure some of the SW characters were also revived after a "time out"

Edit: Appear to have doubleposted, not sure how. I'll just go ahead and add that using him as a Cassius stand-in is also a great idea, due to his flamer fitting the theme.

Edit: Or maybe not! I don't know what's going on - there were two, and now there's one, so I imagine someone's cleaning up my mess right quickly.

Anyway, as I was mentioning, you can certainly bring Chaplain Xavier back to life, though you might have to fork over a fair bit of cash to do it.

Once a Marine is inturned into a dreadnought armour, their rank becomes completely honourary. So he'd be just a regular Dreadnought.

Yeah, even interment in a walking sarcophagus cannot remove the ability to make other Marines really, really angry.

Oh, by the way, if you're going to use the Forgeworld rules, make sure you clear it with your opponent or tourney organizer first.

It'd be best to write up two lists, one with and one without FW rules.

And that is dumb. There should be no Tyranid special characters. No Tyranid survives a the death of a planet they attack. They are all reconstituted into bio-mass aboard the Hive Ships after the planet is Pac-Manned.

It's not impossible it might happen, for example Lysander was, in the previous codex was dead..before being revived and updated and given both new rules and model. And in WFB this sort of thing happens all the time -- look at Eltharion, and that's without even bring the VCs into the equation.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

Not really contributing much to the thread here, but if you don't want to buy IA volume 2 for the chaplain dread rules, they're on the website as a PDF download:

@Mattlov: I believe the idea behind Tyranid special charecters is that they are beasts who became infamous in a particular campaign, so using them means you are fighting in that campaign (or something similar.)

I bought my son one of these for his BA army and the one I have has a FW Plasma cannon, so it's either a Venerable or a Chap with a Plas Can. Cool model though.

Actually, if I remember correctly, Old One Eye was found on Ultramar (or one of it's border worlds) that DID NOT have it's biomass slurped upon. So not only could he exist, but he does within the context of the story.

Sure, he or the Hive Mind haven't named him Old One Eye (it was in fact, the Imperials who named him such) but I find it believable that a single Tyranid MC could survive seperate from the Fleets and garner its own reputation (kinda like a Hound of the Baskerville kinda thing, the Hound itself has no character, but is given the character by those who encounter or hear about it!). Failed Tyranid invasions are bound to leave some of their creatures behind, and they could develop stories based on rumour and urban myth.

You are right that no Tyranid ground forces survive biomass consumption, however the planet he was found on clearly hadn't had its biomass consumed. Problem Solved!

There should be no Tyranid special characters.

And there are none. They are selling the Tyranid character models again, but there are no "special characters" in the new Codex. They've moved to it being more along the lines of special strains and rare mutations of existing strains rather than "characters".

Nid swarms cut off from the Hive Mind will evolve on their own, just look at Imperial Armour 4: several smaller specimen have adapted and evolved in such a way that other creatures could be created over time, even ones normally not directly linked to said genus.

I hope Eldrad stays dead. (but I think he's the only one who has specifically died in the fiction)

Also I think nid special characters could exsist. The justification for removing old one eye before was the fact that you could give the new carnifexes regeneration, just like OOE, but there should probably be special mutations and "first generation" bugs wandering around in an invasion.

Captain Tycho is dead in the fiction, but still has rules

I thought OOE was a special type of 'Fex created when needed, rather than an individual? I've been told by a blueshirt that he has rules in the upcoming codex, but the Red Terror does not ;(
