Subject: Creating IG Vet squad question?

hello Dakka,
i've noticed that with new the Catachan command sqd. the the Cadian torso "lines" up almost perfectly with the Catachan legs. i still don't like the way the Cadian arms line up with the Catachan torso though. i want to make a couple of Vet squads and i want opinions. i'm leaning towards the Cadian legs and torsos with Catachan arms, weapons backpacks etc... and using a mix of bothe heads. has anyone created any combos of the 2 different bits? any advice or pics would be appreciated.
thanks!

Although the lines meet up, Catachan bodies are rather shorter and more squat (as it were) than the Cadian; equally, the legs are slightly longer. I've used this to make a short fat commander from Catachan body and Cadian legs. Funnily enough, I think you notice it less the other way round, and I've got a few of my grunts done that way; generally, though, they've all had very positive feedback as it adds variety and dynamism.
I'll put some pics in my WIP blog soon as I can (decorating + 2 yr old limits time, so may not be till Saturday) and you can see what you think.

do they have double belts? years ago i was planning to combine the regular and cadian kits and i realized i'd end up with a belt and buckle on both the legs and the torso from the regular kits. did they change this with the new command squads? i think someone did the conversion you're talking about and it's pictured in the campaign chapter of the hardback 5th edition rulebook. the guy has a bunch of forgeworld cadian goggle heads on cadian torsos and cargo-pants legs probably from catachans. they look pretty sweet IMHO.

@inmygravenimage:
i noticed that as well! when you have the Catachan legs ans Cadian torso, it looked taller.
i'd love to see some pics when you get a chance!
@warboss:
they did indeed change the "belt buckle"! that's kinda what got me started in this direction. i just don't like the Cadian arms on the Catachan bodies for the most part. the new Catachan command squad torsos also don't look as overly "pumped up" as the regular Catachans, imho.
