Okay, so Chaos Terminators can replace their twin-linked bolters with combi-weapons. Am I correct in assuming that once they fire a combi-weapon, their weapons revert to simple bolters, rather than the twin-linked variety?

It never is twin-linked if it is a combi-weapon, unless it says the combi weapon is also TL. So, even before you fire the combi part, it's still not a TL bolter.
