Can you use your old models to play with, or will you need to buy new stuff for this edition?

You can use your old models to play with - all the rules and cards for them are in the app. If you play the tournament format, you can only use one of two different theme forces with restrictions - about 30% of the old models are not in that format for the larger and older factions (whereas all the newer "limited" factions have all their models in the tournament format).

Huge keynote last night was very exciting. Of note to this thread, one of the announcements was that Grymkin/Convergence/Crucible/Infernals will all return to sale full time as a direct order on demand line from SFG. They will also be doing GW style reprints of other legacy armies.

Also big news with the return of the Press Gang and Lock & Load. Beyond that the new stuff is super exciting. The new technically Khador army with its Grymkin/Circle vibe looks incredible.

Just caught up on this as well and came here to post - THIS is the kind of energy, excitement and all that I REALLY am pleased to see happening.

Fingers crossed for more returning ranges!

Also tapping into 3D printing and supplying STLs as well with terrain and upgrade parts I think is a brilliant idea. It lets them keep their core games selling as retail stock but also lets those with 3D printers get access to a wider range of optional hobby parts, terrain and so forth that might just not be sensible for the firm to sell retail - but which work perfectly as an STL market idea.

The new Khador army confuses me cause it looks like grim-dark-circle!

I really hope they dip into Hordes stuff more and more - I'd love to see proper circle and skorn reappearing

Also physical cards, rulebook, merch, pressgang - Steamforged are really going all out!

That's exactly what it is. This is basically taking all the subthemes centered around Zevanna Agha, the Old Witch of Khador and making an army out of it. She's this ancient primal entity tied to the Devourer Wurm and the people and lands of Umbrey in Khador. She's actually always had ties with the Circle both narratively and thematically, but with a bit more of a cryptid bent. The Grymkin are also her machination, having been unleashed in an attempt to prevent the Infernal invasion. This is very much all of those things brought together. It's the Khador Kossite subtheme with the feral were aspects of Circle tied together around that basic "what you find in the woods" kind of horror.

Bringing back the pre-mkiv armies for sale is a huge W.

Really like the new Khador theme. Have been somewhat excited about rebooted WM but so far Khador has really been the only army doing much for me. (And even they have been a bit hit and miss).

Happy to see more "normal" trolls too.

Not a big fan of "everything is a subscription" though. And of minicrate moving from more novelty sculpts to potentially cool alt sculpts. Screw fomo.

But overall a lot to like in that presentation and glad to see that it looks like Steamforged has gotten Warmachine away from the brink.

Minicrate likely needed to move to something more modern relevant to just remain an active system that works - still not a fan of the fomo but it seems to work for them

That keynote really got people's attention! It illustrates how SFG has been able to leverage the big nvestment bump they got (presumably meant for this) to really hit several important keys for getting Warmachine back on people's radar.

And I think it was well timed, too. Unless the world economy gets completely tanked, having production in both the EU and US at this time seems like a wise move...

Just a reminder to everyone that the digital subscription is free for April, so if you have any interest in the game it's worth signing up for this month at least.

They've also made a huge announcement today, not only that the Cephalyx cadre from the welcome pack will be useable with the legacy Dark Operations army in the future, but that they are bringing back the rest of the Cephalyx as part of the subscription over the coming months!
