I was talking to a friend about Dark Angels and he brought up the fact that pretty much everything in it is unfair compared to the usual SM codex, is this true?

Wrong Forum. This should be in 40k Discussions.

The idea is that it takes extra effort and time to write properly, and they’d rather save the time. If you can still be understood, what’s the harm? While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

Ummm...somewhere...

Yep, he would be quite right, DA are absolutely not worth it compared to the new SM dex. Everything is more expensive and their rules are horrible (bloody things getting jervanised!) . Of course unless your going ravenwing or deathwing, but if your gonna go deathwing you may as well go space wolves and have a wolf guard TDA army led by logan grimnar and jsut have them 'count' as, more efficient and way more entertaining.

~Recently sold sisters, GW ruined them for me their burning of xeno's will be remembered! (Friend bought them back for me, making them work, statement so far half stands after a lesson learnt)

Deathwing has an advantage over the Wolfwing and that is all the Deathwing Terms usually work out cheaper. Not to mention Belial is a steal compared to Logan.

Play long enough and know the history and it makes sense.

DA used to have a clunky version of Stubborn rule. Last codex got rid of it.

Ravenwing & Deathwing were unique options that set them apart from vanilla marines, wolves and others.

DA were the first codex to get combat squads - first to get "free" grenades and bolt pistols. So they were still competitive before the latest SM codex.

DA also were at one point the only one that could access Plasma Cannons for tacticals.

With the new SM codex, improved machine spirit, reduced costs and extended troop capacity have made the DA a poor competitive choice. In addition the new biker captain and Khan have destroyed the uniqueness of the Ravenwing. The only hat the DA have to hang on are "real" combat chaplains and librarians, tough techmarines, multiple command squads with old apothecaries and the Deathwing.

I have DA army that I played through the end of 2nd ed, all of 3rd and 4th. But sadly it will collect dust until they get recodexed or they are doomed to become vanilla marines in robes.
