Depends on the base model really. GW has released current daemon princes on both types of bases.

With GW it can be either, simply ask to be shown a generic DP model & a Nurgle DP model. they use different bases. However if your lgs says that's what you need to use in their events then thats what you need to use.

Actually the first deamon princes were on 25 mm bases, so feel free to use what ever base you want.

From a modeling point of view, DP's generally looks best on 50mm bases.... course GW doesn't use them. I find that 40mm isn't stable enough, especially if you have winged princes, and 60mm, generally looks ridiculously oversized. If both current models use different bases, 40mm and 60mm, then it seems logical you can use anything from 40mm to 60mm. By default, GW is stating that for the DP, it just doesn't make a significant game advantage or disadvantage for this model. And it probably doesn't.

sure, if you're talking about the ugly 2nd/3rd edition metal model borrowed from fantasy that was half the size of the current one, that actually came on a fantasy square base that is equivalent to the ogre one. if he's talking about the current model, he technically should use a 40mm for the regular one and a 60mm for the nurgle one. in the end, i wouldn't have a problem with a DP using either, no matter what the base model. i WOULD have a problem with them using a 25mm one.

IIRC, the old demon prince never came on a 25mm base. in 3rd edition (when i started playing), people only had a choice of the fantasy demon prince who came on the ogre square base (equivalent to the 40mm in size). then came belkor for storm of chaos and he came also on that size base... then came the current demon prince on a 40k 40mm base and later the nurgle version on a 60mm one. while i could be wrong (i don't have my old GW bitz catalogs since i'm out of town), i don't ever recall a DP on a 25mm base. if i'm correct, that means putting any one of those models on one is breaking the only rule we have for base sizes. i don't have a problem with people using older miniatures with outdated base sizes (like someone with a 2nd edition chaos army with all metal termies on 25mm bases) but i do ask that they only use outdated bases with outdated models. i'd prefer everyone using the most recent size but that would be in a perfect world that even i'm not a model citizen of. i'm done painting my IG and i'll be damned if gw thinks i'm rebasing all my 3rd edition heavy weapons teams that fit perfectly in my carrying cases when they were legally modelled on 25mm bases years ago.

I'm going to agree with Warboss on this one. I consider myself pretty strict on base size and actually remodeled some of my stuff when 5th came out to follow the rules and put them on correct bases. I'd allow a 25mm base assuming it was the old DP model, but I doubt someone would want to do this anyway.
