Quick question,

"The squad may remove it's jump packs to count as infantry..."

That's what the codex says but are they then considered as troops/scoring units?

Thanks !

It doesn't mean you can remove them during the game, its an option you decide to take before the game to make them assualt infantry. They still count as fast attack unless it says they become a troops choice.

Yep, got that thanks, just wondering why you would turn some fast attack assault squad into infantry, what's the upside if not counting as scoring?

Surely the author had a tactic in mind for them.

the upside is the fewer points. That's all I can think of...

So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Runnin up on ya.

Yeah it's a cheaper way to get a bunch of chainsword wielding loons into close combat.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Fewer points? wrong I'm afraid

If you remove the jump packs they cost the same and still count as a Fast Attack choice in the FOC. But, you get a free transport (excluding upgrades) and your marines have close combat weapons instead of boltguns like normal tactical marines.

Thats the advantage of doing it.

In regards to them counting as Scoring, my belief was no they don't as they are a fast attack choice, but someone else might be able to confirm or deny that

They're not scoring (unless you're BA ).

Are they a troops choice? No? Well then they're not scoring.

Only advantage is that they can take a transport if they lose the packs. Could be useful for mehc or drop pod armies...
