I plan to expand upon my current, and relatively small, collection of CSM (specifically Emperors Children) units, to make a reasonably competitive army. I personally have to still maintain a theme to the army and I have money, motivational and time restrcitions, so its going to be largely a case of keeping and expanding upon my current (not at-all competitive units).

There's a few guidelines I plan to follow however:
- I lack painting skills and motivation, so I plan to add some models (Daemon Princes) that are more fun to paint, whilst staying away from those I dislike (Rhino's and Oblit's). i recognise a lack of obliterators and rhino's limits the competitive side, but I still feel it can be fairly competitive without too many of these.
- As I said, I have time and money restrictions also, so I aim to make use of almost all my current units. Who will be in a red font.

So yeah, here's what I had in mind:

-HQ-
- Daemon Prince, Wings, MoS, Warptime - 160pts

- Daemon Prince, Wings - 130pts

-Troops-
- 10x CSM - IoS, 2x Melta, Rhino - 225pts

- 10x CSM - IoS, 2x Melta, Rhino - 225pts

- 5x Noise Marines - 5x Sonic Blaster, Personal Icon - 150pts

- 15x Lesser Daemon - 195pts

-Heavy Support-
- Chaos Predator - Lascannon Sponsons - 130pts

- Chaos Predator - Lascannon Sponsons - 130pts

- 2x Obliterators - 150pts (own one obliterator)

Total - 1500pts (was worked out without a codex so could be wrong...)

In competitive terms, It maintains a mechanised element, which is what is generally best for Chaos, has 2 Daemon Princes and Obliterators.
In game terms the Daemon Princes should be able to handle almost anything they come across, the Noise Marines are mobile (assault weapons) fire support and can hold objectives and act as back-up for the daemons and obliterators. The CSM's can move forwards, with the Princes and drop in the lesser daemons, (handling anti-tank and anti-infantry respectively). The Obliterators can take out juicy targets whilst the predators maintain fire support.
In fluff terms its largely very Emperors Children, except the Obliterators and 2nd Daemon Prince. I plan to paint these in similar colours to each other and make the Daemon Prince look fairly mechanical himself, using them as almost mercenaries.

So, what do you think?
C+C more than welcome.

Thankyou. Dave.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Looks a bit weird.
I'd take two winged lash Princes,
three squads of 6 NM in Rhinos incl. AC w/ doom siren,
and spend the remaining points on heavy support.

I think the 15 demons aren't really worth it. Then again, not sure where you could spend the other points as I don't play Chaos nor have a codex...

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

Noise Marines are quite good at sitting on objectives and holding, since standing still increases their firepower, plus they're fearless.

If you have some regular marine squads for anti-tank, they're more likely to get attacked, as they're going forward, plus they don't really need to be 10 men a piece.

I'd lose the two squads of 10 CSMs and use the models as noise marines. Maybe one more small Sonic Blaster NM squad and one small squad with Bolters and a Blastmaster.

So, 25 models makes

2 x 5 NMs with Sonic Blasters
1 x 5 NMs with Blastmaster
2 x 5 CSMs with 1 Melta each and Icon.

And all you need to buy is another of those Emperor's Children upgrade packs from the GW site..

Further to this, why bother with Melta? You have to move to within 6" to use it anyway, and a powerfist could be more reliable in this situation. You could always swap THOSE squads for CC Noise Marines (Powerfist, DoomSiren).

Of course, if you can find a way to make them all SIX models instead of five, your dice would work better.....

While I understand you already have the Lesser Daemons, I don't think they give you much in this list. I would instead try to fit in more Noise Marines and put some Power Fists in those Melta squads.

@Just Dave:

Princes are ok.

CSM: no champions?
NM: not enough numbers IMO.
Lesser Daemons are meh, generally 10 or 20 to get maximum usage IMO.

Hvy support looks ok, but I’d like to see at least one more rhino for armor saturation purposes.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
