More please! Particularly the 'Nids, the Monoliths, and closeups of your DE technique?

I really, really like the way you've painted the DE. It makes otherwise ill-proportioned models look great. Very, very well done.

Also, the roughed-up crystal for the Monolith is great.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

As you can see I have some touch up and detail work to do, and to finish certain areas on stuff that I was brainstorming about. I haven't been in a painting mood for a while, don't know when I'll actually finish everything.

As for the DE they were painted by priming in black, then dusting heavy with maroon, and dusting light with red. Then I mixed various shades of colors together and just edged in layers, getting thinner and thinner as I painted lighter highlight colors. The metal is boltgun and chainmail with blue wash layed on in the darker areas.

Thanks man, I've been painting 'stealers since 2nd ed. So they are very unique brood to brood in look and theme. Heck, 16 of those original space hulk edition stealers have 3 layers of paint jobs on them. Blue and yellow plastic underneath and all.....

This is El Diablo, I'm in the middle of greenstuffing flames all over him. My 'crons serve a long forgotten c'tan whos human culture representation is The Devil.

So he will play under Big D's rules but is modeled off the NB to make him more unique(I also have a DP head w/ horns to throw on him). Oh an all his limbs and base are magnetized.

I like the DE personally. Very vibrant colors that are well done. Great job.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Thanks man, the DE are the ones I'm taking the most time on.

The majority of the 'nids had the green and brown (and their washes/highlights) done assembly line style, the MCs and details on everything else were done later.

The Necrons were all painted assembly line style, except for Big D, the second monolith and the Flayed ones. Everything else was done in one giant batch.

But each of the DE vehicles has been painted independently, I think it shows in the uniqueness of each boat.

Right? I always thought 'Nids had the most visual appeal as a horde army. It sucks they don't do well right now with that type of list.

P.S. I haven't played 40k in half a year, when is the new 'Nid dex out?

The crons are definatly my favorite theme, but I like the Dark Eldar for the time I put into them. I have more time in those 5 DE boats than all my crons. (sad I know).

Good to see custom colours on your army's rather then colours picked by GW.

Well the DE are on their second re-paint, so I first started really painting at the beggining of 3rd ed, my 2nd ed. armys were small and terribly painted 'cause I was pretty young at the time. I painted my DE army in 3rd, it wasn't a great paint scheme but it got me through some local tourny play, I started doing more casual gaming and wanted another army. So I painted 'Nids next, after the 'Nids I wanted to do 'crons, my first color choice sucked as you can see above, so I dropped them and started a massive re-paint on my previously black and yellow DE (That were very poorly painted). I got 4 1/2 vehicles done as you can see then I got impatient because the DE scheme is very time consuming. That's when I batch painted all those crons (and did the simple greenstuffing).

I tend to paint -most- of my whole army at the same time, in a big assembly line style. It lets me get the majority of surface and shade painting done consistantly. Then I usually fock the minis, because it's an easy and rewarding effect. Last I'll go through and do detals, that's the part I haven't got to with the 'crons yet.

Of course the entire DE project was a whole new direction from my traditional painting style. The DE have been painted one at a time, from beggining to end. Right now it's such an overwhelming project, I'm not sure iff I'll ever finish.

Amazing work, and I'm stunned someone has painted Necrons in such a way I actually considered them as an army for a moment.

Oh and don't know if it was on purpose or not, but I love the Dark Crystal style chip in Necron Monolith.

Thanks Morathi. After my first attempt to paint 'crons in a unique way, I was rather ashamed of the results, on my second try I think I struck a homer!

I always wanted my 'crons to be way unique, I thought it would be very visually rewarding. After I finish the detail work on 'em and do the dusting of earth and grass flock I hope they will be fantastic....

P.S. and yeah the crystal chip was intentional.

Yea SsevenN your armies look really nice man. As many have stated, your DE and Necrons look friggin awesome. Gotta love what well placed washes can do to a metallic paint scheme eh?

Yeah it's very sad, I painted all those 'crons so fast... The washes work so well it almost feels like cheating. I actually want to do another army using a lot of dipping.

Of the three armies (all which are excellently rendered), I really enjoy the Dark Eldar. There have been very, very few DE armies I've ever seen that made me really take a double look at. Yours is one of them. Your highlights and attention to detail with every model really makes them out to be a very stand out type army. Thanks for posting them.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
