Reading a few of the newer threads today, my curiosity was piqued by someone mentioning that they were going exclusively to privateer/warmachine and ditching GW, because privateer involved a significantly lower investment in terms of amount of mini's neccesary to play an effetive game (which equals cheaper and less time investment to paint up).

My question to the masses would be (especially for those with experience on multiple game systems): which game is your favorite and why? Obviously opinion based, would be grand if the comments were limited to why you like game A and not a post about why game B sucks lol. That being said, if you are gonna bash, do it in style...

So for me, I don't play any of the major games, because A none of my immediate friends play (more a videogame crowd for that kind of thing), B if i were to play, up to this point it would have been 40k, but i find that the amount of minis you need to be able to play an adequately interesting game to be a pretty big investment on the aforementioned painting time/money scale (i gather 1500-2000pts is the norm, but it seems most of you own significantly more).

Something smaller and quicker to play and not as intimidating to teach someone is more my thing. That being said, I own the new space hulk, and a vintage 1990 something bloodbowl. If ever I were to try something, maybe warmachine would be worth a look? Shame... always loved GW fluff, don't know anything about PP's stuff.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
p.s - just looked waaaaaaaaaaay down on the topics and found a reasonably similar post, but since this is not particularly a warmachine vs. 40k thread, more of whichever game it is you play why do you like it thread, i hope it can slide... (although im sure there is a thread about that too somewhere in history lol).

My current favourite is "Battlefield Evolution - World At War" by Mongoose.

I play it at 1:72/20mm scale/size.

Simple system to learn and play (similar to 40k in style in many ways, but neater, and way fewer special rules). 1:72 models are cheap as chips and available for even very obscure military vehicles and units, so they are a treadhead's dream and there is huge variety. And I find painting at that scale to be easier and quicker than at 28mm scale.

And of course the fluff is fascinating and massive! They even do some wonderful films in the genre and an amazing number of books so inspiration isn't hard to come by

Ask me in a few weeks time though and that will likely have changed though. I'm a complete magpie for genre and period...!
