Hey Guys,

So I'm building a Psyker Battle Squad and I need a model to act as the Custodian. Now, in the fluff a Custodian is a member of the Commissariat (I believe?) but the entry in the codex says he should be armed with a laspistol and a CC weapon... SO, I need to get my hands on a Commissar with a Chainsword and Laspistol... and I'd preferably like to do it on the cheap

Anyone got any ideas please?

Could I convert a model to be a Commissar and make it look *convincing*?

Is there a metal model? I believe there's an OOP commissar with a laspistol?

Could I just convert a metal blister by snipping off the bolt pistol and replacing it with a laspistol? Are there any models this'd be easy to do on?

I don't think he necessarily needs to be a Commissar per say (although he does act like one) but if you like that idea you'll probably need to do some clipping on a metal model (I believe they all come with bolt pistols or power fists) or green stuffing on another model (for the hat/cloak etc).

I went the easy route and basically just used my leftover Cadian command sprue bits. The bandaged arm, a standard torso/legs, laspistol arm and the bare-headed old man head so he looked grizzled and like he hated his job. To be fair, I'd wager babysitting psychic freaks who can turn into monstrous chaos spawns at a moment's notice wouldn't make for a happy camper.

I think making your own from your own bits is probably the cooler and more unique route. Plus if you decide you still want to try your hand at greenstuffing a hat, etc, then you're still golden and you didn't have to buy a potentially expensive metal model.

Good luck!

Hrm thanks, that is pretty cool (I may even copy it ;&gt but what's bothered me about using Command Squad bitz is that officer uniforms don't resemble the Commissar's great coat, I'm not so bothered about a hat (I don't the custodian being mistaken for a Commissar after all)... I just need to find a way to make the Officer's jacket look like a great coat... HRM.

Edit:

Looking at the torsos and heads in this kit, it looks like a "Commissar" could be made...

But at that price, I might as well just buy a metal Commi and snip his boltgun off...

This one would be easy to convert to having a laspistol:

Not sure about how to give it a cc weapon though...

No matter where you go, there you are

I use the old Catachan Lieutenant model, and have him holding a whip in his upper arm. He has a bolter instead of a laspistol, but the model is cool enough to overlook that.

I would use the on foot model of the baneblade commander that seems great coat enough to me

I've used both this guy:

And this guy:

Though I recently purchased this guy, and I think he fits the bill quite well: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1110133&prodId=prod1130428

And he's holding an auto pistol, which counts as a las pistol, so: Win.
