Hey for those interested in play testing with the rumors of the new Tyranid Codex

I am in the process of 'editing' the Tyranid data file for Army Builder to fit with the new 'rumored' point costs and stats. This makes it easier for anyone that wants to build up an army list and do some play testing.

WARNING: This is only for people who are like me very eager to play test and try out our new toys. Even if all the stats and points/abilities may be completely different once the Codex is finally out.

Everything in the data file will be set up to fit in with the rumors as well as my own personal speculation for example the Hive Tyrants extra abilities i set to be worth somewhere around 10 pts each i have absolutely no clue but i figured a 10pt price tag on each isn't all that bad until we get the actual book.

And also i set the spike rifle and strangleweb to be interchangeable at no cost from the standard fleshborer on a gaunt. Since there's no current rumor as to what they will cost. Obviously they probably will be once the codex is out.

Any how all interested PM me and i will send ya the file all you need to do is copy it to your army builder folder and voila. If you do not own army builder you can download the evaluation version for free and still use the data file to mess around with the units.

For the record by comparison now that i can try out the old Tyrant vs the new Tyrant, the new Tyrant is CHEAPER and much stronger than the previous one according to the rumors. I was surprised i thought the cost had skyrocketed but when you factor in what he comes with and what he can do you are getting a much better deal.

So, this is based off of the current round of rumors, correct?

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Playtesting rumors? Vs. waiting a week until the preview books arrive?

Bah, free data file that can be deleted if you can't/don't want to wait a week.

Some people will complain about anything.

--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

Will you be modifying the file each day to make sure it reflects the new rumors? Wouldn't want that rumored data to get out of date.

Any word on getting those "Official" CD's back up to speed?

I have two of these types of products that are quite frankly POS. They wouldn't be bad if someone over at GW actually sat down, got them back up to speed and rolled the rest of the armies out on them.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Only for a couple of more days. Then I'll have a tyranid codex in hand, and that will probably get my attention.

Yeah really. Someone is kind enough to spend hours creating a data file for army builder and you have to make snide remarks about him keeping it up to date?

At least he/she is willing to do something constructive, you just want to be an ass. Free is free, why do you care how up-to-date it is when it will cost you 30 seconds of time to crank up AB, dl the data file and play with it.

Goddamn is all I can say.

I disagree. With the old codex I could build a Sythe-tyrant or Dakka-tyrant with Wings and a 2+/6++ Save for around 200 points, or a cheap walking tyrant for 121. Just giving the new tyrant a 2+ save makes it cost more than 200 points! The new Psi powers and re-rolls to hit are nice, but it does not make him Cheaper. Also the new tyrant seems focused on melee since you can not increase BS he is worse at range.

True. A lot of players would argue that the previous dakka flyrant was undercosted for it's sheer damage output though. Certainly at near 300 points for roughly equivalent shooting it's not nearly so capable point for point now, but for that ~100 point increase you do get two free psychic powers, another attack, and two more weapon skill. Not saying it's an even trade, just noting that the previous incarnation was a tad too good for its cost.

Do you remember that time that thing happened?

Lowering a units WS to 1 and lowering it's I1 is going to cause fits for most units.
