.....two of the vehicles three doors are blocked. The twelve man unit inside cannot all fit within 2" of the last access point. What happens to the disembarking unit? Do you place them or are they destroyed?

The disembarking and wrecked rules have specific provisions for this case. (p67)
Note the emergency disembarking rules (which would appear to apply, in your case), and the wrecked results caveat for models that can't disembark.

page 67 or the BRB is pretty clear on this.....I know this may sound crazy, but try giving the rulebook a read. :-P
1. Passengers must immediately disembark and then take a pinning test.
2. If any models cannot disembark because of enemy models or they would end up in impassable terrain, they can perform an emergency disembarkation.
3. If even this disembarkation is impossible they cannot disembark.
4. Any models that can't disembark are destroyed.
So you place models thru normal disembarkation. If the unit cant fit through that method, the unit performs an emergency disembarkation. Any models that cannot fit through this process are destroyed.
For the actual process I refer you to the above page under the headings EFFECTS OF DAMAGE RESULTS ON PASSENGERS and also Disembarking.

So, if I have three Genestealers blocking the back door of a Chimera and they Wreck it in the assault phase, I can declare an "emergency disembarkation" and place them anywhere around the hull within 2"?
I mean, I read the rulebook about it, but I have been misled at my own shop if the above statement is true.
The only drawback seems to be that they can no longer do anything on that next turn, but in the instance I am inquiring about, the Kill Points would have earned me a win, since it happened to a few units.

Since models can clamber over the top of vehicles. (Something I hate about the rules) Doesn't that mean that when wrecked, models can be placed anywhere within 2" including on top of the vehicle?

NO, they cannot be placed on top of the vehcile, as it doesn't become a wreck until AFTER they get out. See the Destroyed - Wrecked, Results on Passengers, page 67, main rules.

That is not true. They can act normally if they emergency disembarked in your enemy's turn.
According to BRB p.67 they cannot act "for the rest of the turn", which is your opponent's. They are good to go when your turn comes.

No, he didn't "dupe" you. You made a mistake. It is your fault.

You don't have to 'declare' an emergency disembarkation. It's simply a part of the disembarking process, that kicks in if the access poitns are blocked.

No, he didn't "dupe" you. You made a mistake. It is your fault. Hey, way to make a massive assumption. You were not there, so you do not know what was discussed concerning the rules. Yes, I was duped. I made the point that I could do emergency disembarkation, but was told I was incorrect. [Edited by moderator. Let's keep it civil, folks.]

It's everyone's responsibility to know the rules. In the tournament I ran, I incorporated a rules knowledge criteria into the sportsmanship scoring, because I think that not knowing the rules during a tournament is bad sportsmanship.

For the sake of context, I wish to add that what I spoke of was during a "friendly" game, not a tourney game. Had it been the later, I would have dug up the rules and have a judge aid me. As it was, I didn't want to be that guy in a friendly game, though I think I will from now on.

I really wish that people would get it out of their head that there is something wrong with looking up the rules during a game. In fact, this is the best way to learn the rules: every time you have a question about the mechanics of a situation, look it up right away.

I usually do. I already get hassled for it by the "older" players, because I haven't been playing 40k that long. Doesn't help I am a former Magic player who was known for being a power-gamer, either.

As one of said Older players, I permit you to kick them in the nuts. Just because I have a frighteningly good memory of the rules, I do not expect the same of my opponent.

I've been playing for about 3 years and I still look things up when i am in doubt....
That being said I have never really had any issue asking someone to show me the rule they are reffering to if it dosnt sound right to me. i ususaly soften it a bit with something like
"not that I dont trust you, but i would like to see it for myself so i can learn too"
if the person is still being a dusch about it probably not the person to play with anymore.

I look up rules regularly. If anyone has an issue with that I ask them to prove to me that they have a perfect photographic memory.
