So my idea is to have 2 monoliths, one that sits back and shoots, and one that deepstrikes close in and on the turn it arrives pulls a wraith and a destroyer lord with warscythe through to assault something the turn it lands. Then if things get hairy for my lord I can port him back to the safety of the other mono.
While I am sure it will work the first time I try it out, I am not sure of its value beyond being a shock.
Any thoughts? I think I am going to name the technique "The Spanish Inquisition!"

Great vs. noobs, everyone else'll see it coming. If they're meched up when the mono arrives, the wraiths and Lord die.

I seriously doubt that anyone would be expecting it, let alone not having one open squad by the time the mono arrives.
When was the last time you were assaulted when you played against necrons?
Also the wrath and lord are t6 and have decent invuln save. it would take an entire turn of shooting to bring them down, and that in itself is a victory.

I plan to get assault by things, with the army list I play, thus I plan for it.
One lord with 3-4 gib attacks & one wraith with 4 str6 attacks doesnt scare me that much. It cant do that much damage & those two will get shot @ lots! Or rather, the necrons "Sans rez orb" will be getting shot at and the whole lot will phase out, Perfect

This mono type slingshot can be nice, but you almost need two units of wraiths plus the lord to be a real threat. Since the unit can Turbo boost turn 1 while your mono sits in reserve and they have a 12" move 6" charge its almost not needed.
I agree the majority of players will not see this coming, but only one unit going through makes it less of a threat. Now another useful tactic I have found is deepstriking the mono like you said and then using it as a turn 5 or 6 springboard to turbo boost a wraith/ lord unit out to an objective for a last turn contest. Late game that unit could stand up to a handful of broken units, or survive shooting.
The wraith/lord combo can be potent and usually most players let their guard down just seeing you play Necrons. That is what makes them dangerous. It works for a few games and then everyone in your gaming community is on to you so you lose the element of surprise.

It's a viable tactic versus the right armies. The destroyer Lord and Wraiths are bad news versus armies like IG, Tau and even Space Marines. It is a small unit though but if you can pull them back through a Monolith before they are wiped out it's a great way to recycle them. A smart opponent though will probably see it coming though and act accordingly. If you mixed them with some destroyers for fire support that would double the threat. Overall I tend to prefer destroyers since they can keep outside of your opponent's charge range and blast away. Destroyers have always been one of the best units Necrons have in their limited arsenal. You rarely ever see anyone field Wraiths but that doesn't mean they are not a solid unit. Being only able to field three per squad is their main weakness.

The main problem I see with the idea is that it's illegal. The turn that the deepstriking monolith arrives it counts as moving. Your unit that teleports through can't move after "disembarking" from a moving vehicle. Either way, you'd have to wait another turn and your opponent can maneuver to accommodate. The monolith can only pull in a unit from 18" away. If your lord is on a destroyer body then the wraith+lord combo already has 24" of movement available to get the identical effect. And moving them 24" will give them a 3+ cover save option. So, an experienced opponent seeing your lord+wraith position will likely already have taken into account the possible move. You can't move a unit then have it go through the monolith later on the same turn.
Off the top of my head, the most useful thing I can see here...
Deepstrike the monolith to one edge of your opponent. Move the lord and wraiths, under their own power, behind the monolith where your opponent can't see them. Monoliths are great cover for small units. Particle whip something with the monolith.

Why would use use a single Wraith?
I'd go for a maxed out unit.

You would have to be really careful, there are plenty of ways to easily backfire your plan. Personally I find it pretty easy to simply move away from a deep striking Monolith, I mean, I'll be fine if I lose some troops for a turn, since next turn my boys will be gone (its helps to be DE) Try deepstriking one while at the same time moving up with the other monolith, to form a weak variation of a pincer. From what I've seen monoliths are very deadly when they plop down right into a target rich area. You could herd the enemy in their deployment zone. Just some ideas.

You just can't move after 'porting through a monolith that moved due to the necron faq. The necron codex states that you are considered disembarking from a stationary transport if you 'port through a monolith. You could still assault.
However, if the OP equips his destroyer lord like he is stating, then he would neither have a rez orb or a phase shifter for his destroyer lord.
That does not bode well for the destroyer lord.

In my past readings of the FAQ, I just assumed it canceled out the "stationary vehicle" Monolith rule from the codex. Rereading the codex and the FAQ it is a bit confusing. Your interpretation seems to make more sense. Hmmm...new tactical ideas to consider.

Necron assault is hard to pull off in this edition.
When I play it I take destroyer lord with orb/scythe whatever else
and one walking lord with staff and veil
I then have 2 units of flayed ones
1 unit of immortals
2 units of warriors
2 units of wraiths
1 scarab unit
tomb spyders unit
2 units of heavy destroyers
-------------------------------------------------
honestly necrons dont pack a lot of hth punch so I use the hth elements as tar pits [flayed ones] and to take out heavy support infantry or special weapon infantry [wraiths]
the lord actually doesnt lead attacks usually when I play and is more of a support character that makes people think he is going to lead where the assault is, he comes in the round after to finish up usually so he can keep as many things as possible in res orb distance.
Tomb spyders usually provide the armor ignoring attacks I need but as most of the hth has started before they arrive I have to rely on necrons toughness, armor, and WBB with res orb to keep a unit tied up and taking casualties for the spyders or lord to come in.
against mech I usually try to fire the necron warriors at the heavier tanks unless they can only see something else, and hope for a stunned/shaken result to just stop them from firing which is good enough honestly. I dont always have to blow a vehicle up to make it useless for a turn. Heavy destroyers pop transports so i can asasult things and then later work on heavy armor. Wraiths will go after artillery if there is any, a unit on the charge has plenty of str6 attacks which against a stationary piece of artillery usually means death.
Honestly I never rarely assaults with the scythe lord, the amount of attacks he has at not so high initiative means most other characters will go first and even though he is high toughness and decent armor with inv save he can die easily. Rarely can he go toe to toe with a hand to hand character one on one and come out alive.

I understand the surprise factor of bringing a bunch of Wraiths through the Monolith to strike at your opponent's weakest flank. However, it makes more sense to me to advance either the Deceiver or Nightbringer if you plan on getting into fisticuffs with the enemy.
A Necron Lord is challenging in HtH, a C'Tan deity is devastating.
