Hi all, sorry I'm a noob here but I searched for this and coundn't find it anywhere.
Anyway I'm interested in inverting the a land raider's tracks so it kinda looks like a ww1 tank (the british mark 1 tank for example) and I was wondering if anyone knew of any articles on this or pictures of this(because I'm sure I've seen it done before). Thanks.

it sounds like a good idea, but ive never seen in done before, sorry :(

but i imagine it would require alot of cutting as it would be a bit of a dodgy fit most probably.

might end up looking a bit messy but really all you'd have to do to make it look uniform is shave about 1 cm off each side of each centre hull piece using a razor saw, flip the tracks to the desired position, cut a couple of triangular pieces of plasticard to fill the gaps in the rear part of the centre hull that you'll end up having and glue them in place. voila.

if its for imperials dont even try last time i saw it,it went realy REALY bad.
if its for orks however and you can use plasticard to some extent.

95% of teens would go into a panic attack if the jonas brothers were about to jump off the empire state building, copy and paste this if you are the 5% who would pull up a lawn chair & grab some popcorn and yell JUMP
BITCHES!!!!!

You could always pick up one of the old Mark 1 Land raiders, which were modelled to look more like WWI tanks. I will caution you though, these guys are kinda ugly.

The Mk.1 Land Raider doesn't look anything like a WWI tank. Its' treads are visible around the entirety of the tracks like period tanks, but it doesn't make it look any more like something from WWI.

Now, that image above of the tank towing the gun, THAT looks like a proper sci-fi'd WWI tank. Huge sponsons and all.

It's not actually towing a gun. The trailing wheel assembly was a feature of the Tank Mark I, had something to do with steering it.

It didn't really work, so they omitted them in later Mark Is and on all the following models in the series.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

yeh, I made one of these myself. The term you're looking for is 'reversed track'.

you can find a host of pictures of it's WIP here:

it should help you work out how it'll be pieced together.

Sorry, just because the treads arent covered doesnt mean that WWI tanks werent a reference point. Which in this reference WWI tanks were in deed a reference point for the design and creation of the Mk I LR tanks.

I agree that the other tank you mention looks more like a WWI tank though and i like it alot. But with that said, you need to detract more to help lesson the noticiability of the design.

But, looking good from what i have seen here on the thread. Enjoy and keep making more.
