I have found a lot of stuff on how to make molds of existing pieces with green stuff, but I want to know how people (I think scibor on cool mini or not does this) make molds that they press green stuff into to make pieces they add on to models, particularly terminators. I think this is pretty neat but my understanding is their molds are made with the help of CAD programs and sculpting machines which is a bit beyond an amateur like myself’s means. Can anyone shed some light on this process for me?

Thanks all,

Art

Have you seen Scibor's tutorial about how to do it without a CAD machine?

Thanks! That seems pretty simple and effective. Nice of him to put that up. I'm assuming that pinkish stuff the mold is made out of is the Super Sculpey he is referring to?

Sculpey comes in big packs:

and smaller 2 oz packages:

of just about any color you can imagine. The smaller packs might make about...6 imperial guardsmen? The art supply store I hung out at back in the day (mmmm1995-6?) used to sell TONS of pink sculpey. A guy used to come in and buy all the dark pink stuff on delivery days, and when that sold out they moved on to light pink, blue, purple....apparently the pink stuff made the best hardest well forming stuff (one guy swore by...purple?). How that works I have no idea, but I guess almost no color is as good as pink. They refused to devive EXACTLY what they were up to, but they were making casts of things and using the sculpey to recast. Whatever, and have fun.
