(Disclaimer: I'm a paid shill, yadda yadda, BUY! CONSUME!, yadda yadda, I speak only in lies, yadda yadda.)

Dream Pod 9 is having it's annual Christmas Sale! Anyone looking to try Heavy Gear Blitz! might find this an excellent time to order, as we're giving out free stuff.

First, we're still offering reduced shipping. Orders to US and Canada above $50 are still free, and shipping internationally is reduced.

Next, every $100 order earns you a $20 book, miniature, or similar free of charge. Spend $200, get $40. Spend $1,000, get $100. Also, probably a thank-you email.

Third, every order over $100 will get a special limited-edition Christmas Koala Gear miniature. What's a Koala? It's a small marsupial known for eating eucalyptus leaves. What's a Koala Gear? I'm not quite sure! They haven't told me yet!

Next, we have pretty pictures of some of the new stuff:

First is the aforementioned Koala:

Koala with standard armament.

Also, we've got some pics of the new and updated Naga Custom kit:

Front view. The legs are much nicer looking than the old kit.

Rear view. The engine compartment and legs have a lot more detail.

The new Naga Custom can also be assembled in a 'Dark Naga' variant used by the Black Talons:

Front view. Note the larger rocket pods and the armored cockpit.

Side view. The seam between the hull sections is much clearer than the older model, and the legs can be posed a bit more dynamically.

We've got more pictures over at our forums.

(Edited for typos and wrong free shipping amount.)

Might be a bit tiny. These are 1/144 scale minis (12mm-ish). I have an old Naga kit* and I'd pose it with a dreadnought if I had one. Maybe if I get a chance I'll take a pic with some 40k minis to give people an idea of scale.

(* I'll probably be ordering a new one today, actually...)

That Dark Naga looks REALLY cool... and so does the Koala (whatever it is!). Wish there was some stuff I needed... I'd totally be ordering just to get him.

The Koala will be featured in a just-announced eBook-only mini-expansion "Operation: Drop Bears Dive!" that will have some goodies for WFPA players and focuses on a Regiment of Note that uses this unique design.

Read the official announcement for more.

Woah, that's some cool new minis, I bet Paradox01 must be pretty happy about the Koala.
Given what a disappointment the last book was though, I'm kind of cautious in my enthusiasm for the next one...

Really? I liked Cats Eye a lot. It gave two new armylists and tons of background on what has happened in the rest of the colonies since everyone was cut off from earth...

Then again, I'm not one of those Heavy Gear fans steeped in the old mythology so this was all new and interesting ground for me. I for one thoroughly enjoyed the book and I'm looking forward to Drop Bears.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I also might be biased because my North GP squad had two Snub Cannons in it... and the North Armylist addendum made them retardo-good, even if I need to make them Vets to have two...

Oh, RtCE had excellent production value, and lots of content, a great buy really, although it did turn some stuff from "totally lame" to "total no-brainer", which isn't really much better if you ask me, and I'm a die-hard northerner. (On that topic, have you given a look at the Aurora article I wrote about northern combos ?)
Anyway, I wasn't disappointed with RtCE, it was Shattered Peace, the first campaign book, that was a total dud. First DP9 product I've bought that had me feeling ripped off !

P.S : I don't consider myself much of an old-timer either, I started HG wargaming with Blitz first release, and as much as the universe is cool, I prefer balance and playability to strict adherance to fluff.
