What is the best paintjob or conversion you've ever seen? I'm talking about those real 'blow you away' kind of minis. It doesn't have to be your work, but just a mini that you really like. If you are posting something that somebody else has painted, please give them the credit by posting their name and where you got the image from, where possible. Let us know what it is about the mini that you like and why. Since we have threads on the worst mini in production and the best mini in production, it seemed sensible to start a thread of people's favourite mini.

I'll start with a couple of my favourites:

Magmatrax by Vincent Hudon, which won the Canadian Slayer Sword in 2004, found on coolminiornot. For me this is such a 'complete' model, where every aspect of the model fits with every other part, and the painting is just beautiful.

Lord Graviax, also by Vincent Hudon, which won the Canadian Slayer Sword in 2007, coolminiornot. Just stunning paintwork and sculpted by the artist!

Ulrik, by Karaikal (forgotten his real name - sorry!), coolminiornot. What is there not to love in this atmospheric and beautifully realised piece?

For me it would have to be Golgotha by Victor Hardy, its incredible. His bloodthirster in the old chaos codex was also amazing.

Also this beauty by Yellow One is another one of my favorites. He has many great pieces his revenant is amazing as are many of the dreadnoughts he has done over the years.

There are zoomable images of that in the Dakka gallery.

I don’t know if I could pick one. I’ve seen some really ridiculous GD winners, particularly of the French.

These are all absurdly good, though:

Mine is Barpharanges scratchbuilt warhound titan which scored him the Canadian Silver GD in 2001. Man, I miss his work.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack
