This really happened:

I had a razorback with an heavy bolters.

My oponent destroyed the HB's.

he said all my in-transport units had to take a d6 amount of hits because of the RB's 'unstable' weapons platform.

As far as I know, RB's work just like any other tank.

and I know according to fluff that this is true, but it makes a game very difficult.

I didn't let him do it and my FLGS's rulenut knew nothing about the rule, so we played on

LMAO thats hilarious. I can understand discussing rules and having a different understanding of how a rule works but this is a blatantly making it up on the spot.
There is no refrence in the rules to even remotely hint at 'unstable' weapons platforms on a razorback, sorry but it comes across that your opponent had a touch of
sour grapes. Well done for not allowing it.

... Really treat this as a learning curve. Learn the rules and If you are told about a rule and don't know it ask to see it. If you can't be shown it then 99% of the time call shenanigans.

Really the why bother asking about it here? 40K General Discussion is the place to take about silly things like this. Thread title like "stupid thing people try to pull" and ask other people for things that have been tried on them.

To me it sounds like, you didnt know for sure, and were afraid to sound like an ass on the forums. Its ok to not know a rule. There are alot of them to forget. Specially if your playing against an army you rarely play, or your example something comes up that leaves you stumped, but coming on the forums just to get a rise is stupid. There are other forums out there that will except that stuff
