Firstly: Hi from India and Merry Christmas Dakkadakka!

Ok, now. I was just wondering what is the absolute highest number of attacks any unit or IC or anything can ever get. Doesn't matter about strength or WS. I just want to know what the absolute highest amount is including bonus attacks, upgrades and everything else that a single model can dish out in any assault phase. Include whatever holy relic and one time special rules you want. Just the most attacks.

There is no limit. Attacks is the only stat that can be above 10.

Well, a Khornate Chaos Lord as an absolutely amazing number of attacks.
A Solitare (Harlequin codex of Gav Thorpe) can have up to 13 attacks on the charge.

Lukus, my friend I asked for the highest number you can think of not the limit as I know there is none. Hence the question.

And yeah the Khorne Lord is vicious with I think a max of 18? I was wondering what else is higher than 10 and if anything is above the Khorne Lord.

Oops, misunderstood...isn't there a space wolf upgrade that allows him to gain extra attacks for each kill in the previous assault phase? Can't recall the name (and I'm not even sure I'm right since I don't know SW too well).

The forge world rules for Anggrath (greater deamon of khorne special character) has 10 attacks basic and as long as you keep rolling 6's you get extra attacks. I used him in a game once and had an incredible rolling session. 24 attacks in total. 20 of which wounded. which, when you consider it was into a 30 man conscript squad, turned it into a sickening round of bloody combat hahahahaha.
In a 'normal' game I think the potential of khorne lord + deamon weapon is hard to beat.

It's not infinite, as it is limited by the number of turns played. Saga of the warrior Born states you get +1 attack for each model killed by the Saga Bearer in the previous assault phase.

So say the Wolf Lord assaults on turn 1. He will have 6 attacks (4+1 for assaulting +1 for 2 weapons) and kills 6 models. Next assault phase he has 11 attacks (5+6) and kills 11 models, which conveniently results in him killing the enemy unit to a man.

Now it's turn 2, and he has 15 attacks (10+5) and happens to be in assault range of another unit, so assaults them and now has 16 attacks, and proceeds to kill 16 models. Next assault phase, he has 21 (21+5) attacks and kills 21 models, which conveniently results in him killing the enemy unit to a man etc etc.

Of course, this is practically impossible

This number takes into account being assaulted, and killing, the maximum number of units a turn, including requiring more than one squad to attack. If someone ever gets even close to this number, let use.....

BTW, thats 551 troops. so even if the troops are the cheapest & largest groups possible (Gretchin), that is over 16 full (33 man squads) squads, and looking at 2003 pts killed by a unit that might cost like 100 pts.....
This can only be accomplished in a really big Apoc game

Of course the Saga of the Warrior born scenario assumes:
a) that the attacking model never misses
b) that the attacking model never fails to wound
c) that the defending unit never succeeds at an armor save
and
d) that the attacking model either charges or gets charged by an slower unit with exactly the right number of models

then a Space Wolf with Saga of the Warrior Born can double its attacks each player turn (not game turn, but player turn). If you assume an infinite playing surface with an infinite number of enemy models played for an infinite number of turns then the number of bonus attacks could reach infinity. The slightly more plausible upper limit would be about half the number of enemy models.

People forgot to add Logan in for that extra +1 attackin the first round- means after 11 combat rounds you have added another 11 attacks to it....

A Swooping Hawk Exarch in the previous Eldar codex could take the Sustained Assault Exarch Power which allowed him to get an extra attack for each hit rolled in CC, and you kept rolling until you missed.

He had something like WS5 and 4 attacks on the charge, so depending on how good you were at rolling 3+ was how many hits you could get.

The Space Wolf codex does make a rather nice Codex: World Eaters. Just don't mention it around some of the more hardcore Wolf players, as they get a tad touchy about that subject.

Actually, being one of the aforementioned "Hardcore" Space Wolf Players (having played nothing BUT them since 1999) I have zero issue with people using the SW codex for armies such as (but not limited to), Iron Hands and World Eaters. Even with the Old codex, it better represented them (Considering Iron Hands, despite being a 1st founding legion, have had exactly Zero Rules support since the start of 3rd ed [Before that I have no idea, I never played] and even World Eaters, especially with the 4th edition Chaos Codex

). One of my friends has an awesome Counts as Space Wolf Iron Hands army that uses Grey Hunters and Iron Priests to great effect

mate, again i have to stress how much i would not let you play IH as SW. as far as im concerned, youre just another power gamer just trying to make an excuse to use the most updated codex to make your army strongest.

if you want to use SW rules, USE SPACE WOLVES!. seriously, the models are awesome, if you want to convert to being a son of russ, do so, have an ale, and sit at the fire and tell boastful stories. dont hide behind your old figures. become a SW. just dont make us look bad by pretending anyone else is nearly as awesome!!!=D

Now I agree with Decoy and several others about how lame and stupid it is for some armies to be using the SW dex. That said I have no issues for custom made SM armies to be using the dex. Ex: Imperial lions(Oddly enough I know a guy at my store who runs them. Used the old dex for them for a time), Custom non- cannon Chapters.

DA and IH have had a codex to use. In the case of IH I don't care if you don't think your army is not represented well enough to use the Codex book...it was made flexible enough, and your army is considered more codex like then the SW. As for the DA, if your so pissed that your Codex stunk then petition GW, keep pushing them for a new one. We waited 9 years, we listened to many of those, that our army is broken, outdated, etc... and now those same players who said such things (Not all of them granted, those who didn't just ignore this part) are using our new dex.

Last time I checked it said SW on the front for the army...Not DA nor IH...

Being a Space Wolves player is about the attitude as much as anything. You have to be able to laugh at yourself, respect those who earn it in battle and be able to drink half a small country under the table.
