Hi

I'm considering start Imperial Guard army.
I see many people using tank list. I would love it but I want to do something unique.
So I'm considering about Drop Troops with Valkyrie/Vendetta list.

I want fight like this:
Valkyrie/Vendetta do scout move and disembark guards. Then hit and run.
Adding Storm Troopers with deep striking would be cool.

Anyway,
Anyone doing Valkyrie/Vendetta list?
I want to play around 1000pt.

Suggestion and comment would be appreciated.

It's not that uncommon a list. I think a lot of guys avoid actually building it based on the issues it presents for army transport as much as anything else.

The standard build is some mix of tri-melta vets and melta CCSs (with a hint of flamer or plasma) and a flyer for each, with Vendettas making up usually 1/2 of those or more. At 1000 points you can comfortably put one CCS and three Veteran squads into a pair each of Valks and Vendettas (two single Vends witha squadron of Valks would be my suggestion). You might have enough points left for a small unit of Storm Troopers depending on the exact build.

He knows that I know and you know that he actually doesn't know the rules at all.

I personally don't own any of the gunships, but here's a list I just spent a few minutes thinking up:

Company Command Squad + 4 Meltaguns: 90
Provides your foot-based anti-tank. You always need melta when it comes to taking out Land Raiders.

Veterans + 3 flamers + demolitions: 115
Veterans + 3 flamers + demolitions: 115
If you get first turn, you'll scout move, then disembark veterans and assault the stationary vehicles with meltabombs. If you get second, at least they can lob a demo charge at infantry.

Veterans + 3 Melta: 100
More melta is always good.

Valkyrie + Rocket Pods: 130
Valkyrie + Rocket Pods: 130
Squadron these together, use them to transport your melta units.

Vendetta: 130
Vendetta: 130

Don't squadron these, use them to transport your flamer units.

That leaves you with 60 points to use however you like - maybe put demolitions on that last veteran squad, put heavy bolters on your Vendettas (to make them great against monstrous creatures and just for when you run out of tanks to kill). Your last 10 points can go into a plasma pistol for the commander I suppose, since he doesn't have to worry about Gets Hot! because of his 3 wounds. Or you could give both of your flamer veteran squads plasma guns instead.

--

Of course, that's just a list I made up quickly. If you cut demolitions, and add that to those 60 points left, you have 120, which would be enough for a small Stormtrooper squad with a pair of meltaguns.

--

Tactics:

If you go first, scout move, drop off your veterans, assault with melta bombs. If you go second, keep everything in reserve and outflank.

Gtfo with your spam. Unneeded.

Makr has it down pretty much, though I actually suggest you have one squad w/ flamers, one w/ plasma, one w/ melta.

Gives you more firepower, flamers only go so far against MEQ

It is quite disturbing to see the amount of firepower you can throw at 1000 pts.

7 meltaguns
6 flamers
6 TL Lascannons
4 Rocket Pods
2 demo charges

Good grief
