Trying to install DoW "game of the year" edition, I have all the necessarry gubbins, widgets, etc, and am trying to install on a 2002/3/xp computer. Here's how the story goes:
Run disc.
The menu with "install game", "browse CD", etc options comes up.
Select "install game".
1st screen comes up saying "click "back" to exit and close any other programs runnning" yadda yadda.
Close all other programs down, so now only the install wizard is running.
Click next.
"Installation ended prematurely because of an error".
 " WT... Am I missing something?"
Check everything again. It should run fine.
Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone got any solutions? Any answers (even guesses and stabs in the dark) would be appreciated

Operating system? Forgive me, I am a noob. It says windows xp, proffessional,version 2002, service pack 2, if that's any help.
Also, it HAS NO INTERNET ACCESS, but downloads from websites COULD be put on a memory stick via this computer (i'm using 2 computers.)

That was the right answer I was looking for. Otherwise, here are the requirements:
Warhammer® 40,000™: Dawn of War® II Download Minimum System Requirements
* Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista SP1
* P4 3.2 GHz (single core) or any Dual Core processor
* 1 GB RAM (XP), 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)
* A 128MB Video Card (Shader Model 3) - Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT / ATI X1600, or equivalent
* 5.5 GB of Hard Drive space
Warhammer® 40,000™: Dawn of War® II Download Recommended System Requirements
* Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista SP1
* AMD Athlon 64×2 4400+ or any Intel Core 2 Duo
* 2 GB RAM (XP and Vista)
* A 256MB Video Card (Shader Model 3) - Nvidia GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900, or equivalent

Do you meet these requirements? Do you have your newest graphics card driver?
A great way to find this stuff is to go to the Start menu>'Run...' heading>Type "dxdiag" in the field and then press OK. The relevant information should be under the System and Display tabs if you want to verify. I would strongly suggest downloading the newest ATI or Nvidia graphics driver for your video card - assuming you meet the required specifications.

Just checked the computer, it has everything required to play the game, enough space, enough RAM, everything is fine. Just to clarify that i'm trying to install DoW, not DoW2.

Well, I can help you find the right driver if I know what graphics card you have.
Go to Start>Run...>Type in "dxdiag", Press OK, and then on the Display tab tell me what it says for Name, Manufacturer, and Chip Type.

Ouch.. a TNT2... doesn't that pre-date the release of the GeForce 2 when Nvidia bought out Voodoo...
I do not think you can play Dawn of War with that computer, comrade. :( Unless there was a new TNT2 that I didn't know about I would say that the video card you are using is a relic.
