So as part of the continent conquering campaign I'm in, we have to come up with a couple 500pt lists. We have to take compulsories which makes it rough.

Here's one I really like:

Sorcerer, MoS, Lash = 125

5 CSM, Rhino = 115
5 CSM, Rhino = 115

Defiler, 2 DCCW = 150

Total: 495

Obvious simple strategy, hide in rhinos and Lash armies into clumps, annihilate them with Defiler shots. Also since I've only got 11 krak grenades to deal with other vehicles should I give the Sorcerer melta bombs with the 5 pts I have left over? Also when thinking practicallity, please remember all the armies I'll be facing such as Nids, IG, Orks, Necrons, Tau, Eldar, and DE have to take their compulsories in their 500pt lists.

try this it may be a little over but you can easily work with it enjoy


HQ-1 = chaos lord-(Mark of nurgle, plaguebringer[daemon weapon])-150pts

TRP-1 = 5x Noise marine (5 sonic blasters) -125pts

TRP-2 = 5xCSM - (1 flamer, mounted in rhino, chaos lord joins this squad)-110pts

TRP-3 = 5xCSM (1 meltagun)-85pts

HVY-1 1xObliterator-75pts

=545pts

Sorry I forgot to mention that even though CSM can have mixed marks in the new everything's-undivided codex, I've made the personal decision to use Slaanesh only. Still very open to any suggestions but please keep to MoS/IoS so I can stay fluffy, YAY FLUFFY! I like the Noise Marines idea.

Suggest Combat Patrol rules or something similar.
The restrictions for full FoC mandatories coupled with points cost makes it no fun and not really viable to go with Necrons...sucks a bit for Tau.

IG are pretty cozy.
Points intensive (aka elite) armies can't do squat.
Dark Angels are forced to take Green (over priced) marines and can't effectively do DW or RW that well.

Anyway the list.

A huge AV 12 walker... highly hit or miss, even one lascannon will likely see it die.
CSM in rhinos don't offer anything... not even a single flamer that you have points for?
Sor with lash isn't doing a whole lot for you...

500 points...

Sorc, Doombolt.
5 Noise Marines, Blast Master, Rhino.
5 Plague marines, Melta, Flamer, Rhino.
1 Oblit.

Sorc adds more dakka instead.
Blast master is there to be flexible and the only heavy weapon in 5 man squads as a troop choice.
Plague marines is where the Sorc is, and is equipped with flexibility in mind (and there's not enough points to get a second melta).

The single oblit is there to hide behind rhino then take shots it needs to.
Else, drop the oblit for some more bodies...

At least that's what I would do, but I find it stupid to begin with...I guess it makes sense for a campaign, but I would rather it start at 1000...just to actually be fair to everyone.

Just to explain the campaign a bit more, we all start with a 1000pt army, 2 500pt armies, 3 250pt armies. Often these armies will be fighting in unison, sometimes against lower pts and sometimes against higher pts depending on how the hex tile continents movement phase went. The reasoning behind forced compulsories in the 500pt is too use the armies as reenforcement type armies where they either are boosting the main 1000pt army or combining to make a 1000pt army, either way the 500pt armies will rarely be fighting alone.

Oh and once again, Slaanesh only please, meaning MoS, IoS or Noise Marines. No special character allowed so no Lucius.

Sooo...

Sorce, DoomBolt, MoS.
5 NM, BM, Rhino.
6 NM, Champ, PW, DoomSiren, 2 Sonic Blasters, Rhino.

You would want to go CSM w/ IoS, but that's not economical until you reach 10 man squads, and need the special weapons.

But using NM squads, you can get the hvy weapons and special weapons at under 10 man sizes, but are not ideal as the model count is pretty low.

Just throwing this out there, how would that list deal with T6+ monstrous creatures?

What would you say too:

Sorcerer - Force Weapons are nice
5 NM, 4 SB, 1 Blasmaster, Champ w/Fist = 200 - Lots of power from range, plus a Fist to shove in their face when the monsters get too close
5 NM, 4 SB, 1 Blasmaster, Champ w/Fist = 200

So with these other lists, do you have to have an HQ unit? Because that eats up your points.

If you don't need an HQ, my logic would be 3 x 5 man Noise Marine squads with a Blastmaster. Fill in the rest of the points with Rhinos for LOS blocking.

Yah the 500pt list requires an HQ and 2 Troop Choices as it is supposed to just be a booster for other armies.

Ok, then Lash Prince + 1 of the squads I mentioned + Sonic Blaster Noise Marine squad and Obliterator.

How is it a booster if it's handicapped so much?
Crapping up the "Reserve" Force just puts more Crap on the table...IMO.

Well its a good way to spam Daemon Princes, which I would definitely take advantage of.

It's a booster as in it adds 2 more scoring units and like minigun said, it gives me the opportunity to basically have anywhere from 2-6 Daemon princes running around in one fight ... lol.

Sure, spam DPs is good. I'd personally just go for a Spartan one (just wings).

I guess I could do this:

Daemon Prince, Wings, MoS, Lash = 155
Daemon Prince, Wings, MoS, Warptime = 160
5 CSM, Rhino = 115
5 CSM = 75

Oh and the 1000pt and both 500pts all are required to be FoC, and yes, for those high pt only model armies I agree this is crippling.

Well if your 500 points limit is not too strict ill tell the army im using at the moment.
