Ok so im putting together a Necromunda Gang (Goliath), and I was thinking of this as a starting point. The gang is Goliath, but the models will be converted using a mix of catachan, cadian, space wolves, Space marine scouts, empire militia, and ork bits. I want them to look more like the sort of hive gangers you see in the Kal Jerico comics. I would give some autoguns, but i need to find some spare autoguns somewhere. Would Ork arms be completely off scale with an empire militia torso and catachan legs? Anyway the list:

Gang Leader: Shotgun, Chainsword, Frag Grenades

Heavy: Heavy stubber, Knife, frag grenades

3x Ganger: Lasgun, Knife

2x Ganger: Shotgun, knife

3x Juve: auto pistol, knife

2x Juve: Laspistol, Knife

total - 970

Ok, some things to discuss.

Frag grenades have a very, very short range. Your heavy, who is already expensive, is never going to be close enough to use his frag grenades, so giving them to him just makes him an even juicier target, and a harder loss for you when he dies.

Shotguns are -1 to hit at long range unless you spend the 5 points on manstopper shells, spend the 5 points on manstopper shells.

Laspistols shouldn't exhist in your gang. You're juves are bs 2. Do they really need another -1 to hit at long range? Give them an autopistol, it's much better for the little guys.

Personally I don't even bother with lasguns, but that's because I prefer wounding on a 3+, since hitting in this game is hard enough as it is.

I'd also drop 2 juves for another ganger, as if one of your gangers goes out of action, you won't be able to work all your territories.

Angron- crushing the theme and fluff of armies one horde at a time.

On your juves, ya drop the grenades and laspistols and rock with autopistols! 2+ at short range is a beauty! Shoot em up! Lasguns IMO are good as a starter weapon! 2+ ammo roll and various other things that do well! And yes, BUY manstoppers on those shotguns! Everything else is ok, leader with frags is ok since he should go around kicking booty anyways! Heavy stubber is good. but 5 juves and 5 gangers aint pretty! drop maybe laspistol juves to invest in manstoppers and more gangers! If required jsut have a bare bone ganger that stays back, so in case another is *cough cough* "incapacited" you can still make cash with your 12 gang members!

Don't due boredome its a mass murderer!
1500 points, Astral serpents
starting now! Kabbal of Shattered Sorrows, with wyches from the cult of the bloodied shadow, Hamonculi from the Coven of the Third pain, and Hellions from the Arterial haunters.

I'm pretty sure that Goliaths can't take lasguns. At least not from the start.

As soon as possible, stick a grenade launcher on your gang leader. Trust me on this one. It will open up a second heavy, later down the road, for a heavy bolter or another heavy stubber. And that 60" range is fantastic. You don't want your gang leader to die. You avoid this by keeping him behind meat shields. BS4 with a grenade launcher is the shiznit.

Juves and everyone who actually uses his pistol should have an autopistol. Gangers with longer-range weapons should have a backup, either stubguns or autopistols if you can afford it.

Shotguns are OK. Their shorter range makes them meh compared to autoguns. Don't forget that if you hit someone in Necromunda, they will almost certainly lose their next turn. You can shoot them again, if you like. Longer range = more opportunities to shoot, so I take lasguns almost exclusively (Orlocks).

As for recommendations on the list itself:

Drop the two laspistol Juves.

Drop frag grenades from the Heavy.

Drop the Gang Leader's shotgun and give him a grenade launcher. If necessary, drop one of the autopistol juves to make up the points. If you can't afford it, then keep a hefty stash, wait a few games, and then buy it. Until then, just give him an autopistol, chainsword, and frag grenades. He can pass off one or both when you give him that grenade launcher.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

Nuggs is correct. Goliaths are the only gang, in the newest version of the rules anyway, that don't have access to lasguns on their house weapons list. On the other hand , they do have instant access to a Boltguns and are the only house gang that can take Massive weapons, so you should think about that.

As for the scale, yeah, Ork arms are too big.....but the solution is Chaos Marauders and Beastmen. Both of those sprues have an excellent array of muscly arms and will work perfectly.
