Well, im going to my FLGS in a few days... and i want to know what you guys think I need /should get.
Heres what I have now:

2X cadian shock troops
1X Lord commissar
1Xcommissar
1X company command squad
1X leman russ
1X Leman russ demolisher (traded the punisher +executioner cannons for a Forgeword tank commander that is used for pask)
1X Baneblade (my friends are very loose with apoc rules + superheavies)

So, what should I get? An extra 2 squads of men are on the cards currently, with a hellhound.

Currently you've only got 25 infantry models, you need more to play a full-sized game well. Decide whether you want to field mechanised troops (veterans are usually the best at this) or footsloggers as your scoring units. I think to play a good 1500-pt match you would want at least 3x10 veterans in chimeras, or 70+ guardsmen in platoons, or a mix of the two.

So, I'd buy some chimeras to mount your current troops in, or more infantry (the battalion box might be cheaper for that option, I'm not entirely sure)

Oh great, loads of troops in metal boxes. Actually, i do like that idea, but that might not be achievable money-wise.

Battallion box? You don't mean the new battle force, do you?

Oh, and most games will be around 1000 points - for now, anyway.

Sorry if the options I presented are too expensive. But the minimum number of troops needed for a game is 20. 20 guardsmen obviously aren't survivable, even at 1k point levels your opponent can take them out and deny you the ability to claim objectives. So, you need some metal boxes for your cadians, and/or some more bodies.

I wouldn't be too depressed about it - most people would say that platoons and mechanised veterans are very good units indeed - you don't see many players taking the minimum amount, they form an important part of the army's capability.

Meh, another 3 squads of guard and 2 chimeras should do the job, or a chimera and a valkyrie.
