Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I am not shure where it should go. If it's wrong, where should I have posted it?

Been building and painting for years, but never played. I have a few games now. I am getting back into Tyranids again. I don't understand how Shadows of the Warp works. I know it's something about roll 3 dice and take the 2 lowest. That would still be 2 dice that is under 10 or 9 and the test would pass. Or that is how I thought it would works. I have been reading the rumour threads of SofW and people keep saying that it will cause enemy psychic tests to fail. How? I just don't understand it. I guess I don't know how psychic spells work and what not.

Can anyone explain to me, first how psychic spells work, and then how would SotW make almost all the psykers to fail most time? With lots of psykers having high Ld, how would it make them fail. I am totally confused, any help would be appreciated.

Why do you think it's take the two lowest?
Seriously, wait til it's out. Then read it.

As I've 'heard', it's 3D6 add them all up.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Of course it is up to you if you believe me or take some salt on this comment:

I just looked up shadow in the warp (i am german, so i already have a codex at hand ^^)
and it works like this:
if an enemy has to make a psytest within 12" of the model that has the shadow it has to roll 3 dice and the sum must be equal or below it's ld.
So basically it works like a normal test, but with 3 dice instead of 2. So the chance of a miss is much bigger.
And it is enough for two of the dice to show both 1 or 6 to inflict a warpattack.

Ah thank you shadow tyrant.I thought the rules were the same as 4th but all over the board instead of 12".

I guess with trying to learn all the rules, I confused myself on how psychic powers works. Now I see where 3 dice come in. can see how psykers can fail by using 3 dice. Anthour question, are there rules for say like Eldar or other psykers say they only use 2 dice, or will the Tyranid codex over ride thier rules?
