Send him dakkas regards will just make him want to go back to the terrorists.

Just kidding dakka.

--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

They have announced on the news this morning that the kidnappers may well have been Iranian Revolutionary Guards operating in Iraq.

I am pleased to hear about his freedom and saddened by the execution of the other men.

**update**
They were held in Iran the entire time.

If thats true how come British carriers aren't steaming to the Gulf now following a declaration of war? If not why not?

The one current source of this rumour is a UG general whom is both '90% certain' and 'absolutely certain'.

Once he makes his mind up we might start working towards believing him.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Indeed, British Government has said there is no evidence to support this.

Apparently, it was mentioned in The Guardian, whose source was apparently once in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

Because, even if true, the suffering of 5 people is not worth being locked into a war that they cannot win.

I doubt it. There's no quicker way to end internal strife than an attack from a foreign power. Iran is in the process of tearing itself apart, our action will be far more subtle, if its there at all.

Dogma's right. If we want the people responsible for this sort of thing gone an invasion won't help.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

Well, CANNOT win is a bit strong - we COULD nuke them . Even in terms of conventional warfare, The UK would tear Iran a new arsehole if it came to all-out war. They don't have the force projection the UK does. But yeah, that would be a leeeetle excessive.

Somewhere in south-central England.

We would find it a bit difficult to project force into Iran. The logistics would be very tricky especially when we are heavily committed in other areas.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

They don't need it, unless of course you plan to invite them to tea, and then poison their crumpets.

I dunno, KK - The UK has a pretty decent presence in the Mediterranean. And Iran is sandwiched between Iraq and Afghanistan, both of which could be used as staging areas. But it's all hypothetical.

Glad to hear he is back safely and with his family.

As always, it is sad to hear of the deaths of his collegues. RIP.

The Iranian leadership are both unpopular and seem increasingly hell bent on dragging their country into an ill advised conflict with a superior (in military terms) country. It is the ordinary Iranian people I feel sorry for, they neither want this or deserve it.
