Subject: Need some Movie Help - Martial Arts/Kung Fu/etc.
This brings me back to when I used to watch kung fu theater every Saturday, they had two kung fu movies in a row, hosted by the owner of a local car dealership. He tried to provide some insightful commentary but he really had no idea what he was talking about. It was sorta like MST3K but in reverse.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Are you looking for martial arts generally.
Or those old ones with swords and in fantasy setting?
If any martial art is fine , here is more from Jet Li "Hitman"
More Jet Li " Black Mask"
Not Jet Li , but pretty well known ( in martial art movie -_- ) oh wait you know this person
he is in Iron Monkey you watched. He is also the spear guy in "Hero"

Since Lunahounds images are blocked by the great chinese cenrsoship program, I have no idea if she mentioned the "Once upon a time in China" series. Old, but great movies.
Also another couple of recent kungfu films are "Danny the dog" and "Fearless" (both starring Jet Li).
Actually thinking about it doing a search of any older Jet Li movies is bound to bring a lot of decent results...you can't go wrong with his older stuff. Steven Chow also has his fair share of movies, though they tend to be more comedic in approach. Good luck, and I welcome you to the world of Kung Fu movies. I'm also a recent fan (my wife introduced me to them). When the new year is over I will pick her brain for you if you like?

I guess look up more of them by Stephen Chow(Just saw he also did Dragon Ball Evolution, avoid it). He has a fair few other comedy Kung Fu movies. In one (which I don't remember the name of) he was like an assassin or something that seemed entirely incompitent and threw knives. He was trying to hit a bear of something to show off and the knife flew way off target and hit the wall near the ceiling. Later on it showed that the knife had actually hit a fly directly in the middle of it's body and cut it in half. Another one he had is CJ7, not so heavy on fighting as Kung Fu Hustle was but it has several parts where it parodies his other movies.
This is just CJ7, you should be able to pick up at least one parody from Kung Fu Hustle in the trailer alone.
Also you should watch these in their English Subtitled versions as nearly all the Dubs are horrible.
Master of the Flying Guillotine: Excellent, we wouldn't have the inspiration for out fighting video games without that one.
Five Deadly Venoms
Bride with White Hair: Great early Ronnie Yu directed movie.
Forbidden Kingdom was decent.
The Crippled Masters: This film is amazing, goes to show how people can endure past their handicaps and start kickin ass.
Rikki-Oh: Story of Rikki: This isn't a period peice but I love this movie about a guy that is in a future prison who has the stength of Superman and the healing factor of Wolverine. Lots of Gore.
Shogun Assassin: Movie version of the Lone Wolf and Cub series. Must See.
Duel to the Death: China's best swordsman vs. Japan's Best Swordsman...Wackiness ensues.
Return of the Deadly Sword: Three words: Flying Metal Wheelchair!!
That's all I can think of right now.

Nothing on DVD but I recommend Ninja Assasin if it's still in theatres in your area.
Gallons of blood and really sweet fighting scenes.
I thought Ninja Gaiden the entire time I watched it.
I'm partial to a lot of the Bruce Lee movies...

I want to recommend you something but its not a movie , and you probably would have a hard time finding it.
But its not something to be missed o_o
Luna - no, not Asian, and no Asian friends nearby, but recommend away - who knows!

Thanks to all!

I second Hero, beautifully shot and has the "superpower" thing you're looking for as well.
And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

You're looking for films set in the "Martial World" aka wu xia.
A lot of that is going to be Shaw Brothers stuff from the 60s and 70s. You'll want to search for the "5 venoms" who did many films. Chang Cheh directed a lot of these although his films tend to take on a "heroic bloodshed" aspect which John Woo really stretched in the 80s.
I suggest looking for the three Swordsman films (Swordsman 1, Sowrdsman 2, and Swordsman 3 The East runs Red) for more of that type of film.
More recent films include Hero, House of Flying Daggers (the original isn't as OTT as the more recent one) and the two Red Cliff films (get the Chinese ones as the one running around the US recently is a chop down of these two movies). The latter has a lot of drama in it but the fight scenes are also of the mass combat with heroes variety found in some video games.
As for Shaw Brothers, you may want to look for Mad Monkey Kung Fu which focuses more on acrobatics than swords but is still crazy good.
Chinese Super Ninjas aka Five Element Ninjas aka Super Ninjas has some crazy weapon actions combined with the dastardly ninja sneak attack stuff.
Sword Stained with Royal Blood is decent with lots of wire work IIRC (it has been 10 years since I saw it).
Crippled Avengers aka Return of the 5 Deadly Venoms has been mentioned.
There's another OOT film called Shaolin vs Yoga or something similar that has the yoga master with crazy expanding arms. I may be confusing Shaolin vs Lama with Master of the Flying Guillotine here though.
Duel to the Death may interest you. I don't recall so much wire work as I do the sword sequences.
Butterfly and Sword has lots of wire work, people being split in half by sword energy etc, but te story really drags.
Dragon Inn/New Drtagon Inn is an option as well.
