Despite the wonderful discounts floating around the internet, I can't bring myself to invest in these models. The bad part is, I love their fluff and gameplay, so I really want to use them in my lists.

The Black Guard don't look like the elite, cold-hearted walking death they are intended to be. They look like they're standing around waiting for the train.

And the Witches... I like the mostly dynamic poses, but their body proportions drive me nuts when I look at them. Their faces for the most part, well, GW isn't known for their quality of female face sculpts.

I know harpies by tradition are not beautiful creatures, but just like with the Witches, their body shape is all out of proportion and bugs me too much to put money on.

Does anyone know of alternatives to these models? I don't play at official GW stores or sponsored tournaments, so nice-looking non-GW models are perfectly fine so long as it's obvious what they are intended to be.

I'll take a look! Are you mentioning that particular line because it's your general alternative line of minis, or you've seen some that swap nicely?

Reaper is just a good solid company that covers all the fantasy staples. They also have one of the largest lines of metal around.

Racham has their own over-the-top style that looks great but does not always mix will with figures from other companies.
