so, I was thinking 'bout getting back into LOTR, and wanted to start an army of the dead army.

So I wanted to know, are they balanced and usable in the lotr sbg?

I think they are good as an army, but will be very boring to collect. They are all the same colour so you dont get to be very artistic with the paint scheme and they dont have many different types of troops. A king, warriors and cavalry i think are their only troops.

Welcome to the Daemonhunters, the ranks of the exalted Ordo Malleus and their cannon fod....er, I mean, loyal allies. Remember...the only ones who need fear the righteous might of the Ordo Malleus are the Daemonic.

They're good against some things, but then HORRIBLY TERRIBLE against others. 15 ppm is really hard to work with, and They are only F3, so still will lose plenty of combats, and they only have one hero who is 100 points with no might, which sucks.

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause.

...Is completely useless. Army of the Dead are cool cats with gondorians or elves, but by themselves, they seem hard to make an army out of.
You'll also probably get a lot of hate from people, since Army of the Dead seems to be some kind of troll magnet.

Fluffwise, it'd be hard to justify using them in any game that doesn't take place within a stone's throw of Minas Tirith. However, that's the beauty of the sbg, you can create your own what if scenarios.

On the table, Army of the Dead go through things like Goblins and Orcs like Narsil goes through butter. Your problem will be against enemy heroes with high courage who are able to counter the special ability of Army of the Dead models. If you really wanted to, you can always throw a unit of them in with a Gondor army.

In da middle of da WAAAGH! Australia.

Great as allies to a larger army, but don't have enough choices by themselves to make an army out of.
