So, a little something that has been bugging me for a while now.

What is the correct way to write this guys name? Is it "Khârn the Betrayer" (as in his name is Literally Khârn the Betrayer) or is it considered a title, Khârn, The Betrayer (as in Khârn, who is called The Betrayer).

I vote "Khârn the Betrayer". I do think "the Betrayer" is a title (it's obviously not his last name), just one that is intrinsically tied to his name (i.e. he's not just called "The Betrayer" by anyone, except maybe some embittered World Eaters. After all, there's a lot of traitors running around, you have to be more specific than that).

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

I'm pretty sure that the knickname may be related to his habit of wantonly slaughtering his own followers, allies, and so on. Though one wonders how anyone ever says to themselves: "I think I'll put my trust in Khârn the Betrayer to lead us to victory."

if it had a comma after it you'd be saying this is what he is.

if it's his title, he needs no comma.

In the codex on page 48 it states " Kharn is called the Betrayer because of an incident on the daemon world of Skalathrax." My interpretation of this sentence means it should be Kharn, the Betrayer.

Alexander, The Great? Ivan, The Terrible?

That doesn't seem right...

Good point never thought of it that way. So probably is "Kharn the Betrayer" as all the ones you described are written like this in history.

Better question: how do you pronounce the circumflex in his name/why bother with a diacritic?

Adding a weird mark above a vowel to make the name more sci-fi? But that would take some kind of tactical geni--CRÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉÉD!!!!1!

I would assume that the Name Khârn the betrayer is a title which would by all means in the English grammar laws and set up would entitle it to be part of his name without any sort of grammatical punctuation

My theory is that it's the name by which Khorne knows him, and consequently anyone who sees him would call him that. It's like an onanomopeia, it's self evident. People who have never heard of him would scream that Kharn the Betrayer is coming in terror.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Should technically be "Neko wa kawii desu" if I'm not mangling all my Japanese lessons, I think... but nobody cares about accuracy in memes.
