- HQ and 3 veteran squads w/ meltas = anti tank/monstrous creature killers. Shout orders from inside chimera to vets when disembarked.
- Veteran flamers w/ flamer chimera = anti horde & obj. captures.
- Scout sentinels outflank side/rear armor 7str shots. Also can use to tie up heavy weapon infantry.
- Medusa squadron long range 14 armor killers.
- LRBTs support fire on infantry or tanks.

This is a little bit of anti everything. Eventually I'll be collecting more models to play around with different play styles. I just started collecting IG and have 2 platoons w/ missile launchers/autocannons + lots of plasma guns, CCS w/ meltas, 20 veterans w/ meltas, 2 autocannon sentinels, and 2 chimeras.

I am looking for a competitive but fun army to play. I'm not looking to dominate tournaments but rather be competitive at my local gaming store with my friends. I don't need to win every game but would like to win here and there. Will this army be that for me???

That's a lot of veterans. Have you considered giving them doctrines? My personal favorite is Grenadiers (4+ armor save), because then they don't automatically die!

Maybe in a 2k point game those upgrades on them would work. Their role in this list doesn't warrant the 30pt upgrades.

Chimera
- turret heavy flamer & heavy flamer
i don't see what your doing here as you only ever get to shoot the one flamer you had may aswell keep the multi laser to put down some shots while you are advancing

I don't think any doctrines are necessary for veterans who are already protected by a chimera.

HB sponsons for LRBTs are a bit iffy, maybe 1 tank w/plasma sponsons would be better than HBs on both.

Plasma pistols are of limited use, keep them if you like, but at least scrap 1 and get the CCS a 4th meltagun

Hm....good point. I didn't really realize that they ALL had chimeras. Anyways, I agree with elderly, give one LRBT a plasma cannon and leave one vanilla.

Thanks for the feedback.

DUH on the heavy flamers on chimera! Making lists late at night you forget some things. For some reason I was thinking the 2nd flamer was a defensive weapon :p. haha

Dropped plasma pistols, gave the sgt. shotguns, and gave the 4th meltagun to the ccs and a dozer blade on their chimera.

What are your thoughts w/ the extra points to give 1 of the vet squads demolitions? Terminator killers plus all those melta bombs to really cause havoc to a land raider if the meltaguns didn't do their job.

I LOVE DEMOLITIONS

i run one suicide vet squad with demo

i pop them in my vendetta drop the3m behind enemie lies and let the demo charge fly

some times i grav chute insertion them just for fun
but it rarely goes well and if i do that they can't charge so are kinda standing there just waiting to die

my demo vets usually drop charge , get in to a fight , and then charge a vehicle(well actually they usually die before that but still fun though)

Some things I would change.......

Vets dont need carapace cause when the chimer blows up you will have cover!

The LRBT is fail with sponsons cause you can give them wounds to allocate on key targets.... like ok I have 8 Battle cannon wounds and 3-4 heavy bolter wounds ....GREAT 2 guys will get normal saves and the rest die sure :-)

I allways recomend some ground troops cause they do 2 things 1. HOLD objectives 2. PCS is great in a chimera with Flamers

Finally why upgrade the Medusas at all

36 inches and str 10 ap2 will kill tanks and will hurt any unit

This will give you a little more to work with and you will be more affective cause honestly vets are great and all but having a unit thats hard to break on the home objective is priceless!

Behind you

I would take basilisk instead of medusa, and trade vets for infantry platoons
the shout and run up to the enemies, just like in the movies

they are much cheaper and more effective in numbers...
