Hey guys I was mulling over this idea a couple of months back and it has just popped back into my head.
Can Space Marines use or ever make use of Valkyries? I only ask because I think one would look good in my force and fliers always look good perhaps Navy Liason for landing command staff I dont know shipmasters and the such Chapter serfs and Remembrancers.
I just want to know your take on this.
Actually MODs please remove post or please move to painting and modelling have realised this is wrong place.

Valkyries are part of the Imperial Navy. They are on occasion given permanently to Imperial Guard regiments. Such assets would not be assigned to Marines. They use thunderhawks. Marines and Imperial Army elements have not been allowed to combine elements under one command since the Horus Heresy.

Well, there's a chance they "borrow" them for a unlimited period of time from their enemies.. hehe
Marines are kinda "The Hammer-blow" of the Imperium.. when they strike, they strike hard, using drop pods to quickly make planetfall and use Thunderhawks to swoop them up to their next mission when they have mopped up everything on their first mission..

Its unlikely that a chapter would make direct use of a Valkyrie when Thunderhawks are readily available.
However, if you wanted to include one in your force you could attach and Inquisitor (any Ordo), and use it as his/her dedicated transport. Simple!

Superb! its a idea I have toyed with wasnt the old valkyrie during the HH called the Stormbird it was a heavy and light lander as my memory serves
Hmmmm so may do a Pre Heresy army which are the really obscure legions from that period??
Mods please remove as silly double post.
Ps Ps no need to remove post as double post is now gone.

remember too that a Valk is used to carying little guardsmen, and occasionally their gear. A unit of space marines would probaly outweight the aircraft, fluffwise at least.

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

The Stormbird was the predecessor to the Thunderhawk. Not the Valkyrie. We've never really been told if there was/is a predecessor to the Valkyrie, but given that the Valkyrie is an atmospheric craft, I don't see it having much use outside of Guard regiments or as fast-movers for a VIP.

If you want to do it within standard codex's and without resorting to Apoc mixed lists you could bring Inquisition Stormtroopers from the Daemonhunters Codex and have a Valk as their designated transport.

Thats true I have been wanting to include an Inquisitor in my army but am yet to find a decent enough mini to base it around.
As for Stormtroopers I am going to wait for the plastics I think.
