So I was wondering if anyone know what scale of trains would look like they are the proper size for 40k miniatures (the one they build in the apocalypse book doesnt look big enough)
I am wanting to build an operational cetrepiece for a table

Ive purchased some 1/32 pieces of battle supplies such as barrels, sandbags, and Gerry Cans and they seem to work fine with space marines and IG gtanks, but look a little silly next to plain IG infantry. The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

certainly anything that can normally occur will be worked into the rules. When I have it all planned out I will have to post up what I have figured out

"S" gauge is close.
Failing that, "O" gauge is also good.
(Brother in law is into trains).
HO or OO are too small (being 1/76 and 1/87).

S gauge looks rather small compared to even an IG model. O is probably closer to what you want. Find a train hobby store near you and take some models for size comparison.

Based purely on the 28mm scaling, S gauge is closest.
The main issue you will find is that although GW claim that their stuff is "28mm", it isn't consistent throughout their ranges. Next to this lack of consistency, ANY other scale is going to look wrong.
Go with 'O' gauge if you don't like S.
You won't find anything that precisely matches GWs mongo scale - and they like it that way.

Yeah I am not concerned so much if the train is a bit large I am more concerned that it looks as though it could possibly fit guardsmen and space marines let alone some of the other gribblies
