He's the OOP Cadian Colonel that came with the previous codex release as a boxed set of six metal minis: Him, a medic, standard bearer, master-vox operator, meltagunner and a wounded Cadian.

He's the model that Jes Goodwin cited as his all time favourite thing ever sculpted.
So GW discontinued him one month later.

Timing may be bad on that but just because a sculpter says its a classic doesn't mean it will stay in print.

Ok then, hows about...
1. It was relatively recent.
2. It's a freaking amazing sculpt.
That should be good enough to keep it in print?
I mean, they put an article in WD askin their senior sculptor what model was his all time favourite and so he states 'that thar cadian colonel, creed's ok but that colonel is the business' and then a month later, he's pulled off the shelves...
And you can't even order him from their 'collectors' range when there are models there over 10 years old? WTF?
I think the cadian colonel's hiding out in the same 'country health retreat' that the diaz daemonettes all went to, all hot-tubbing and sipping on daiquiris.

The article was written several months in advance.

They still have this box at the local game store down here.
I just saw it last week in it's usual place on the bottom shelf, under a pile of dust and next to Inquisitor Karamazov (which still is a very nice model as well). Even with the 40% off nobody bought it.

I want to buy this platoon commander.
Where can I find this?
If you want, I can go check into seeing if they got a set still down at the shop. I'll PM you tommorrow with the details.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |
