So, for engine of the Gods of the abilities that it has, I can use one per turn, do they just happen automatically or do I have to roll dice to see if they work?

They happen automatically, and cannot be dispelled by any means.

Hate the hijack the thread, but I've got another Engine of the Gods question and I don't want to have to open a new thread for it.
For the persistant effects of the Engine of the Gods (i.e. the 5+ ward save and the one effecting a single lore of magic for that magic phase), do the effects remain even if the Skink Priest is killed?
For example, say I cast the spell that effects a single lore, and the Priest atop the Engine then promptly miscasts and dies. Does the effect continue til the end of the phase, or does it end right then and there? For the 5+ ward save spell, would the effect continue into the ensuing close combat phase?
Thanks

I think that they would still go on for next turn. They say that they last for next turn and say nothing about SP being killed. if the SP is killed, he cannot use any more "spells" of the EOTG. the EOTG "spells" are not considered as spells and though don't go off if the SP dies.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

The effects are a function of the EotG and all the priest does is activate them. If the priest dies the effects will last but cannot activate them again (as per the FAQ)
