In addition to my obsession with speed freeks, I also must admit that I love Deff Dreads and Killa Kans more than I should, as such, since I'm selling off most of my WHFB armies and SM stuff, I'm gonna expand my orky armies.

So while I've seen a lot of stuff about loads of killa kans, I've not seen much about deff dreads. I'd like any advice on this current list from other Orks who like ta "Giv it to em 'ard!"

HQ

Big Mek Borgutz - 135
power klaw, kff, eavy armor, attack squig, bosspole

Big Mek Grubnak - 135
power klaw, kff, eavy armor, attack squig, bosspole

Troops

Deff Dread with 3x ccw, skorcha and armour plates - 105

Deff Dread with 3x ccw, skorcha and armour plates - 105

3x 30 shoota boyz w/ 3x big shootas, nob with pk - 230 each (690 total)

Elites

15 burna boyz - 225

Heavy Support

Deff Dread with 4x ccw, armour plates and grot rigger

Killer Kan squadron (3 kans)
all with grotzooka and armour plates - 165

Killer Kan squadron (3 kans)
all with grotzooka and armour plates - 165

I thought about maybe dropping a mob of boyz and getting some stormboyz to tie up their heavy shooters quick and hopefully help the boyz and 'ard stuff close to krumpin' range. Other times I dropped some upgrades from the meks, kans, dreads and a few burna boyz to get a 20 boy mob of 'ard boyz. Was also thinkin' about maybe getting a squad of nobz (just cause I love them so very much)

thoughs?

For a foot slogging ork list it looks pretty good.

Burnas, they have a short ranged weapon and need to get close. Any smart opponent will know the damage they can do and gun them down the first turn they can get. 4+ cover save will only keep them alive so long. I would drop these as they don't suit a foot list, they're better in a mech list inside a battlewagon.

I would drop the heavy support deff dread. You will get about 3 kanz per unit of boyz, so you have a "naked" boy unit so to speak. And the deff dread won't come them all. So I would get another 3 kanz and you should be sorted.

like said above, the burnas dont really have a place in this list and drop the 1 dread for 3 more kans.

now your mek should never see CC so i would drop the PK, attack squig, bosspole.

kommandos with snikrot will do you much better for a elite chose. it will make your opponent keep his troops of the edge of the table letting you get into range faster. LOL and the ability to attack vulnerable rear line units and tanks.

i would also think about giving your boyz nobz boss polls.

Indeed. Burna's in a vehicle = death on wheels.

Burna's with no truck = 15 points per model of never going to see combat.

If you are dead set on fielding the same amount of 15 point models, lootas start at lethal, and slide to very lethal depending on what you roll with your Heavy d3 roll. Since it is just one unit, it will probably just get shot up, but it will very likely field better than the average burna unit hoofing it across the field without a battle wagon.

Good list. For the burna replacement, possibly consider kommandos + snikrot to get your opponent to deploy closer and to do some behind enemy lines damage, or some deffkoptas or warbuggies with TL rokkits to zap vehicles as suicide units, or stormboyz as shock troops. You're just looking to buy another turn or two for your footslogging horde to slam into them, so anything that can knock out/tie up units that can whittle your horde is valuable.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I'll change the burnas out for stormboyz (I love them, I just couldn't find a place for them in this list.) I like kommandos and might change some points around to get them, and I'll drop the close combat stuff for the Big Meks as well as change out the dread for killa kans.

I'm not completely against stormboyz, but keep this in mind:

20 stormboyz + nob w/ pk and bp = 280 points

20 sluggas + nob w/ pk and bp + battlewagon w/ rpj, deff rolla, and shoota = 270 points

Comparing the two, the 270 points is better spent with the wagon. With boyz in a wagon, you get:

- the exact same combat statistics for the boyz
- same strike range (give or take) on any turn that you are offloading
- better resilience when you are 'in transit'
- boyz that don't blow up when they move
- better ability to deal with enemy armor (deff rolla = best anti-armor)
- the ability to tank shock, either to manipulate units such as walling off against counter charges, bust through screening units or to run units off the board

All you lose is flight and deepstrike, both of which can easily be overlooked given the advantages of the wagon. It's a no brainer.

True, but my other Ork army is a speed freeks one full of trucks and battlewagons and such. I guess I could have a battlewagon to give them yet one more thing to shoot at, or I suppose I could just put more boyz on the field and tell my opponents to "Go ahead and shoot away, you'll never kill em all... zog off."

Armor plates for Kanz taken in squadrons are redundant
thanks to the 5th ed rulez. Think about it.
