Hi

This is my attempt to make a fun, but also relatively competitive, IG army list. I've called it a Rogue Trader list because it has a bit of everything - I've tried to stay competitive whilst also refraining from spamming multiples of the same unit.

This list is also a labour of love, in a way, as I'm currently investing lots of time in converting and painting the units - many of which were only found in the original RT army list (for example, the beastmen). there are also newer, fun units in there as well (such as the Medusa and the Executiuoner).

Would really appreciate some feedback on the list though!

HQ
COMMAND SQUAD (185)
Lord Castellan Creed
Plasma guns (x3)

Is Creed a good chocie for this list? He is there to give the infantry platoon the "For Cadia!" order, and to give orders to the multiple heavy weapon squads. He can also allow the Executioner or Leman Russ to Scout

TROOPS
PLATOON COMMAND SQUAD (45)
Grenade launchers (x3)

INFANTRY SQUAD (110)
Sergeant with power sword
Commissar with power sword
Flamer

INFANTRY SQUAD (65)
Sergeant with power sword
Flamer

INFANTRY SQUAD (65)
Sergeant with power sword
Flamer

All standard infantry are modelled as Beastmen; they combine to provide a shield for the artillery, and the Commissar will ensure that they stay put.

HEAVY WEAPONS SQUAD (75)
Autocannons (x3)

HEAVY WEAPONS SQUAD (75)
Autocannons (x3)

HEAVY WEAPONS SQUAD (90)
Missile launchers (x3)

VETERAN SQUAD (100)
Shotguns (x5)
Melta guns (x3)

PENAL LEGION SQUAD (80)

A RT classic, these guys are to harrass the enemy using Outflank or just skulk about trying to hold an objective. They are modelled with explosive collars and bald heads.

FAST ATTACK
VALKYRIE (100)

For the Vet Squad to ride in, usually uses Outflank as a single flyer will get blown away pretty quick I think.

HEAVY SUPPORT
LEMAN RUSS EXECUTIONER (195)

LEMAN RUSS (150)

MEDUSA (155)
Enclosed crew compartment
Bastion breacher shells

1490

Any views on how it could be improved? The PCS is bad, I know, but I didn;t have the points to improve it.

im wondering whether your army only looks like a Rogue Trader army or is it ruled like one too. eg are the beast men less shooty and more hand to hand orintated. or you could count all beast men as penal legion troops rather then regular and have sepreat regulars.

Creed is an odd choise as well as he dose not fit in with Rogue Trader fluff.

taticly the army is strong. it may be lacking in somthing to really punch through heavy armor.

I would like to have the army ruled like a RT army, but probably won't be able to do that - the combined squad with power weapons etc quite effective and also represents a "herd". Problem with the penal squads is they are quite small and some of the random rules choices don't reflect beastmen well (the assault 2 lasguns).

I agree that Creed is not very RT, and as he is so expensive I'm definitely up for reconsidering him as a choice if anyone can suggest some other ways to spend the points.

I would consider scrapping creed and taking either another HWS, penal legion squad or a sentinel squadron.

Eldar Corsairs: 4000 pts
Imperial Guard: 4000 pts

Corregidor 700 pts
Acontecimento 400 pts

My vote would be for a more penal legion. I know you already have enough troops but they are very effective. You have plenty of heavy support both from tanks and heavy weapons teams.

You are a little lacking in fast attack but if you dont want to play that way then thats up to you and using the scout rule on penal legions can get quite a number of troops in the enemys face fast.
