Topic says it all. With the release of the new dex many of my carnifex and warrior arms are going to have to come off. As this is my first army and I had never heard of magnetizing until most of this stuff had been built and it is all glued on. How would you go about removing glued on arms on models that you want to keep the paint on. I know green stuff weakens glue and I might use that on a few that have to be repainted but there are also a few that are in my new scheme and I dont really wanna soak them. Any suggestions?

First question , what type of glue did you use?

If you used plastic cement it will probably have to be cut off. If you used superglue you can use the superglue solvents.

What is a superglue solvent? Will it damage the plastic? Im 100% sure it wasnt plastic cement or any kind of mixing adhesive. Just basic superglue you get at the hardware store in a small tube kinda thing.

Super glue is easy , they seem to fall apart with sharp movement than brute force.

Get a spoon and hit near the joint.

If that doesnt work , get a flat head screw driver and see if you can wiggle through any gap and push.
Those 2 always work for me.

That seems like a great idea for the larger Carnifex arms! Any suggestions for the smaller warrior arms?

Pointy bladed hobby knife (x-acto or similar).
Poke in and wiggle carefully. With some practice, you should be able to get enough of it free that a gentle twist can remove the arm and most of it's mounting point.

[NOTE: This is for removal of a not too heavily overglued piece with polycement bonds). If it was glued by a 3 year old (apparently) with a tube of gunge* this method will not work.]

*This refers to any of the thick syrupy poly cements in a tube.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That sounds easier than the goupy solvent.

It does work, but it is a pain to use, and I have no idea of the brand, it has a blue label that says...Super Glue Solvent

Also, freezing the model can help with removing glued on parts. The cold makes the superglue brittle. The arms may even pop off on their own.

Avoid force if you can. You're just as likely tro break parts of the arm you don't want to. The alternative would be a jewlers saw, which would allow you to make precise cuts. Also, if you don't mind losing your paintjob, you can soak the model in Simple Green for a while. The joints will weaken, and the model will fall apart.

That would be how I do it. Freezing is also an interesting suggestion.

Fingernail polish remover is the most readily available product that can dissolve superglue. Producs like Simple Green are also good for removing superglue from plastics.
