Since I'm so bored at the moment I'm just going to copy a line from my project blog:
I figured I'd share my Imperial Guard army project with you. As you propably already figured out, they are the 72nd Cadian. It's a light/heavy armoured regiment specialised in snowy regions and close urban fights.

This army list is meant for my urban/snowland army that I'm currently working on - The 72nd Cadian regiment. Please take a look at it here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/269476.page
Please post C&C about the army list.

Why not change several GL for weapons with longer range?

More importantly, there is a lot of heavy spending in the options area for your units. For example, you probably don't need both a powerfist and a plasma pistol on your commander. I suggest choosing one or the other, but not both. In your armor, you have a lot of singles. This makes it too easy to single out the larger threats, concentrate fire, and work their way down. If you are going to take armor, take multiples. Don't take: A hellhound, a basilisk, a russ, and a chimera. Take 3 chimeras, or 3 russes, or 3 basilisks, or a couple of hellhounds.

Why would you have meltagun vets on foot? They are going to be far outside of their effective anti-vehicular range, and without some protection from either carapace armor or a chimera, they are going to be shot to pieces before ever even getting close to their intended target.

The majority of your list is gunline. Thus, go with that theme. Don't try to make your list so well rounded, because a jack-of-all-trades is master at none! Take out the fast moving units, even though snowmobiles sound like a great idea (alaska is a very cold place and sleds would totally rock), it just doesn't fit with the theme of a slow but unstoppable tide.

My suggestion for trimming this list down:
Drop the Hellhound
Drop the Roughriders
Buy more Basilisks or Russes (your choice)
Buy more Chimeras, or drop the veteran squad with meltas and get some Lascannon HWTs
Cut out the frivolous spending from your units: drop pfs, plasma pistols, and bolt pistols. You won't be needing that many bolt pistols especially.

I never thought about that... You see, I'm not a very active player when it comes to Warhammer... And as you already stated I was going for an "even" list. I think I learned a valuable lesson when it comes to army lists: individuality is nothing, am I right?

I really don't know what kind of army I was going for, but it was certainly not meant to be a "horde" at first. Sometimes when I think I've got a good idea I go with it at first, but later I realize how bad/odd/stupid etc. etc. it was. And making an army list during late night is not always the best alternative either...

Bolt pistols were just a "fun" idea I had, and they fill out any remaining points well, as in this case.

Thanks for your help, I'll go improve the list in a short moment.

If you like your list, then by all means keep it the way it is. I didn't mean to sound elitist in the last post, but it may have come across that way at 3 in the morning! I apologize. The advice I offered was meant to improve the list in a highly competitive setting: if your metagame in your area is significantly less competitive, then spamming certain types of units would not be as necessary.

Chimera 70 pts.

This squad seems pretty expensive. Camo cloaks and a Chimera seem kinda odd and your Chimera and CCS have alot of upgrades. I'd drop the PP and take a 3rd Meltagun, same price and more firepower.

ELITES 60 pts. [260 pts.]

Snipers (counts as Ratling Snipers) 60 pts.
6 Guardsmen

I can't comment much on snipers but if they work for you, thats cool. I'd rather take another Infantry squad or even some Sentinels.
________________________________________________________________________________

TROOPS 695 pts. [955 pts.]

INFANTRY PLATOON 261 pts.
Platoon Command Squad 90 pts.
Power fist, 3 flamers
Medic

Not bad but I think this squad could use a Chimera. Flamers and Fists are short range weapons.

INFANTRY SQUAD 57 pts.
Bolt pistol, grenade launcher

INFANTRY SQUAD 57 pts.

I'm not sure how useful the BP will be. I'd like to see even a Mortar given to the squad in case you have to hurt things at range.

HEAVY WEAPON SQUAD 75 pts.
3 Autocannons

A few more of these wouldn't be a bad idea.
________________________________________________________________________________

Veteran Squad 155 pts.
3 Melta guns
Gunnery Sergeant Harker

Doesn't this squad need a transport to do anything really cool?

FAST ATTACK 200 pts. [1150 pts.]

Snowmobile Squad (counts as Rough Riders) 65 pts.
Close-combat weapons, power weapon

Interesting choice, could be fun.

Hellhound 130 pts.
Heavy flamer

I think most people will prefer the Banewolf simply because it melts MEQs and you can move 12" and fire it and the hull weapon.

HEAVY SUPPORT 350 pts. [1500 pts.]

Leman Russ Battle Tank 185 pts.
Lascannon, heavy bolter sponsons

I don't like the Lascannon/Heavy Bolter mix, its too multi-purpose. I'd do HB/HB or just the Lascannons. Saves you some points too.

Medusa 165 pts.
Camo netting

Not bad but I like the safety of Demolishers better.

No no, it's cool! I did not feel offended in any way, though it might seem as if I were in my post. I do appreciate your help.

Thanks for checking it through. You also gave me some good tips. As I should have stated before I am a n00b at army lists. But hey, I'm learning.

The bolt pistols for the Infantry Squads were just for fun and to waste the extra spare points. I was thinking of skipping HWTs for the squads, and going for individual HWT squads instead, therefore the 3 autocannons.

I was thinking of having a some kind of artillery, hence the Medusa. It's only 10 points more than a Basilisk, and it's way better for a 6'x4' board than the Basilisk. I mean, check their ranges. The Basilisk has 24'' - unlimited range, if I remember correctly. The Medusa has 12' something - 36' something - good for tight city streets. I dunno about the Demolisher, but I'll go do some serious thinking on the next list.

Thanks!
