Subject: Question about the GW modeling tool

Hey, I just bought some green stuff and the GW modeling tool. I have never really modeled anything before so thought would give it a try, first off made some shoes for the shoeless Empire soldier! I opened the tool and the larger side seems to be blunt (the side that looks like a blade) i thought it would be thinner and have an edge to it but it is really blunt and so i find it hard to make small lines or details. Was just wondering if this was normal, or if i bought one that is faulty.
Any feed back would be great thanks

Yes GW tool is shockingly awful. Even my local GW manager implied as much when he said "Well... we sell these, but check out this tool that I use".

The GW tool is ok for moving the GS around but for detailing you need proper toolz, i use dental tools which you can get for a not bad price from ebay, such as these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12-DOUBLE-ENDED-SCULPTING-SCENERY-TOOLS_W0QQitemZ110476931705QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Toys_Wargames_RL?hash=item19b8f03279

I rather like the GW tool, one of my most used ones. I do need to pick me up a dental scraper though.

I have a full set of steel modelling tools, but the GW one (or the version from that modelling tool kit), is the one I use the most by far. It's a good general use tool, anything else tends to be specialized to making a certain sort of shape.

Thanks for the feedback will look into them tools Sirius42 thanks for the link. I find the GW one ok, was just wondering if the blade side was ment to be thin or if it is ment to be really blunt, its around 1mm wide i thought it would be sharper (thinner) so you could cut or make small lines in the greenstuff. Is it ment to be like that?
Cheers

No, it's not meant for cutting in that way; when GW talks about greenstuffing and mentions doing the fine lines, you'll note that they say to use a hobby knife.
