Ok i have for a long time wanted to do a 40k daemon list, but because of the models i have held off, either because i didnt like the actual model. or the cost of the model. With the up coming beastmen models i feel my dark prayers have been answered!! i plan to use the models to represent several of the daemon dex units heres my ideas:

doombull: skulltaker on juggernaut
minotaurs: bloodcrushers
bestigors: bloodletters
razorgors: fiends of slannesh
centigors: seekers of slannesh
pestigors: plague bearers
giants: soulgrinders

of course i would model them to appear more appropriate and WYSIWYG, just asking for some ideas and feed back on the general principal.

thanks in advance!!!

I don't hate the idea at all, but I'm dubious about using beastmen to visually represent _three_ different chaos gods. They'd certainly be fine for Khorne, but I'm not convinced about them also representing Slaanesh and Nurgle...

I have had a similar idea, to use Beastmen models and convert them into Khorne daemons, so I thinks it is a good idea!
However! I agree with Clang that they would not seem likely to represent Nurgle and Slaanesh without extensive conversion.

thanks for the feed back, and alternative ideas....

its going to be a beastmen demon army, i just think fielding beastmen as khorne, and then the "stock" versions of the the others would look silly.

the slannesh models are gak some of the goofiest lookin creatures in the entire range, they are the main reason im choosing to use different models, that and the price of bloodcrushers.

i just dont see why using completely different models to represent completely different units is so bad, what alternatives would i have??

thanks

The Giant and Soulgrinder thing would be a huge issue.

Soulgrinder is MUCH wider, it wouldn't be fair.

Gods don't matter, since your doing "counts as"

yea that was gonna be hardest part to swallow was the giant grinder idea, there was a thread of some kit bashing a defiler and giant with GS work, do you think this idea would fir with the whole bestmen demon theme??

and yes i dont think it matters what gods the models represent as long as my opponent is able to clearly tell whats what

It would still be nice for the models to reflect their counts-as equivalents as much as possible, e.g. the 'Slaanesh' units should look fast and fragile, the 'Nurgle' units slow and tough. If you can find/convert Beastmen models to do that, I'm all for the idea.

im still struggling on how to come up with a grinder model...

any ideas or help would be great

thanks

I know that when I won one of the old metal bloodletters, I first mistook it for a gor of some description. So no issues on using them for Khorne.

I can also see the pestigors as plague bearers; they have the diseased look about them, just as the skaven plague monks do.

Can't really agree with the others. Centigors would do better as the fiends, if you were going that way, they definitely don't look like they'd be seekers. Is the LotR dragon about the size of a soulgrinder?

I dislike the doombull and minotaur ideas... I just cant picture them as a chariot and juggernaughts... it just seems a bit too far... especially sicne they are all on foot.

noone said anything about chariots, they would be on the same size bases as the bloodcrushers. the bloodcrushers dont move as cavalry so theres no issue with speed.

ok the seekers of slannesh are the mounted demonettes, so how are the centigors not able to represent that? the centigors are basically mounted beastmen.

"Razorgor are massive cousins of the Tuskgors, mountains of mutated muscle and hair that are deadly in the extreme. Gigantic boars covered in spines, tusks and coarse hair, Razorgor are nightmarish to behold."

i think that sounds pretty much like a fiend!!! =)

i know i seem argumentative, but i want to be able to see why something doesnt work, and aslo defend why it does. i dont want to spend my money and time on a large modeling project for something i wont be able to use.

thanks

Ah, my apologies then, I misread it as chariots for some reason. I suppose if bloodcrushers dont move as calvary then it would make sense.

I like the idea a lot! With the right colours and a bit of conversion, this'll work great! I love the idea of the minotaurs for Bloodcrushers, thought about making them Ogryns myself, though Lets get some pictures!
