I played this game just before Christmas against one the regulars at my local GW. We'd been trying to get a game together for about a month but always managed to be occupied when the other was free XD Anyway, i was looking forward to playing his DP marine army so i could see how effective my castling tactics would be, instead he decided to use his mech-vet army. Yick.

I played my usual Sisters list only swapping out the flamer seraphim for some inferno pistols

His list was roughly:
CCS in Chimera
Pask in Vanquisher
3xHellhound w/5xvets + melta
2xChimera w/5xvets + plasma
3xChimera w/5xvets + melta

The mission was objectives with one each in our home deployment zone. He wins the roll-off and opts to go first, setting all his tanks up in a line across his DZ with Pask on the right flank and the hellhounds on the left. I repond by parking my Exorcists and one rhino opposite Pask and next to my objective, my other transports, seraphim and canoness' go on the right to try and outflank him. I try and fail to grab the initiative :(

IG Turn 1
Everything rumbles forward a few inches, his CCS transport parks behind a big wall near his objective and plays hard to get. Pask the irritating stops swigging cocktails long enough to shake an Exorcist, the rest of his chimeras fire their multi-lasers at my transports wrecking one rhino (and killing 2 SoB into the bargain) and immobilizing the immolator. Grr, and i thought ML's were just for looks!

SoB Turn 1
Both Exorcists move out of sight of Pask behind some ruins. The SoB from the wrecked transport hide in some nearby woods and await further instructions, the unharmed rhino pops smoke and speeds towards the nearest chimera with a canoness hidden behind it. The other canoness joins the seraphim as they advance on the hellhounds. The dominions get out of the immobile immolator and slog towards my opponents objective.
Shooting from the Exorcist explodes the lead chimera killing all the vets inside Everything else is out of range :(

Objectives: SoB 0-1 IG

IG Turn 2
The hellhounds advance on the seraphim but are just out of range with their template weapons, his chimeras continue their advance their ml's proving far less effective this turn as the smoked rhino makes all it's cover saves. Pask ambles forward and manages to wreck an exorcist with an especially jammy autocannon shot. Boo hiss.

SoB Turn 2
Trouble is definitely brewing; unless i can break through his tank wall, i will find myself swamped with troops next turn :S The remaining Exorcist downs another Chimera killing 3 more vets who fail their break test and leg it. The rhino spills it's load of Sisters in front of his 2 remaining central chimeras, the canoness jumps forward wrecking one chimera and assaulting it's occupants but failing to cause any wounds. The other canoness and seraphim split off and wreck 2 hellhounds and finish off their occupants in the assault phase. It seems my opponent was unaware that you can shoot a tank and assault the troops inside with the same unit, to be fair, that rule is not where you'd expect to find it in the BRB. My dominions and other SoB squad run further towards his objective.

Objectives: SoB 0-1 IG

IG Turn 3
He trys to pull his lines back together, Pask moves further infield, the remaining hellhound heads for his objective and the last chimera spills out it's troops. Four sisters are cut down by plasma fire, Multilasers take out the rhino and Pask the pesky explodes the remaining Exorcist. The hellhound toasts 2 seraphim and puts a wound on the canoness, in the on0going assault between the canoness and vets, she manages to down 2 but takes a wound in return with the vets passing their morale check.

SoB Turn 2
In an act of revenge, the seraphim jump behind the hellhound and blast it apart then finish off the survivors in melee losing another of their number. My depleted sister squad runs past the wrecked rhino and towards my home objective. The canoness finally finishes off the vets but takes another wound in the process and consolidates into some ruins. The other Canoness wrecks the CCS's chimera and charges into their midst killing a vet and the apothecary. My full SoB squad and the dominions run onto his objective and play some cards while the canoness deals with his commanders.

Objectives: SoB 0-0 IG

IG Turn 4
Trying to keep me from claiming my home objective he unloads Pask, the remaining vets and his chimera into the 6 strong SoB squad. I pass my SotM test and after the smoke clears he has managed to kill nothing at all! The SoB wave at Pask and adjust their hair. His CCS bravely puts another wound on the Canoness (both down to 1 wound now) before being ground into a powder by her Eviscerator.

SoB Turn 4
Mopping up time One canoness wrecks his final chimera while the seraphim's inferno pistols make short work of his remaining vets. The other canoness decides that Pask has had enough fun, points an inferno pistol at the vanquishers fuel tank and blows the whole thing sky high. My troops run onto both objectives and perform various victory dances.

Objectives: SoB 2-0 IG

Game over

This was a real rock-paper-scissors match; it basically came down to whoever could knock out the others tanks first. I think my opponent only really messed up when he moved his hellhounds forward to deal with the seraphim and didn't get his troops out there and then; when their templates were unable to cause any damage he left me 2 easy kills and control of one side of the board. He also followed the unwise tactic of concentrating on the exorcists. Pask was in a good position to wipe out both SoB squads but elected to shoot at the big shiny tanks instead.

For my first game against the new IG codex (and a list that has won my opponent a tournament recently) i'm very pleased with how my SoB's soaked up punishment then went bloodsimple on turn 2 wrecking his left flank and tabling the rest of the army over the next two turns. The Canonesses were excellent again leaving a trail of burnt out vehicles and mangled corpses wherever they went, the only real worry being my inability to pass 2++ saves (i think i failed 4/6). Things could have come undone near the end when i realized that i had 90% of my army camped on his objective and only a beleaguered SoB unit near mine, thank the emperor for SotM or this could have turned an embarassing draw!

Hope this is a good read. C&C are ever welcome.

Uhh vet squads are in units of 10, not 5. And hellhounds cannot transport units....are you sure your friend has an IG codex?

He also apparently used eight troop choices - or thought that Vets transported in Chimeras count as FA. Or he split into combat squads...?!?

I haven't seen such a...liberal interpretation of the codex before! :-) Still, youtrounced him, so good job!

Hmmz, i suspect it is more my recollection of the battle that should be called into question rather than my opponents knowledge of his own list. This guy is the last person who would knowingly bend the rules in his favour. I suspect he probably had chimeras full of standard troops and maybe some vets hiding behind his hellhounds.

I have consumed far too much tequila in the interim to be sure about his army list :S The batrep remains accurate in that i pretty much tabled him (bar a couple of retreating guardsmen), i think i've just messed up what his list was and tried to fit the report around that
