I'm fielding a Biker Nobz army and looking around online I see that many people are counting Biker Nobz as infantry unit types even though they are mounted on bikes.
Now it seems to me common sense says that if they are on bikes than they must be bike unit types. However, the codex does not say anything specific about it and the rule book is not all that clear on the issue.
Is there was a general consensus on the issue?
Thanks.

No, they are Bikes. Where did you hear that they are Infantry?

The Warbike rules (page 46) say plain as day that a unit equipped with a Warbike "modifies his troop type to Bike".

They are definitely not infantry, I have also never seen them considered infantry and thus, I get the feeling what you actually saw was a discussion on the ability to take them as a Troops selection on the Force Organisation Chart, rather than a discussion of the unit type.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Thanks, that's what I thought. I saw few discussion posts on Warseer.com where they were taking Biker Nobz as infantry.
Somehow I missed that section on page 46.

Thanks again.

Are you sure they didn't mean Biker Nobs as Troops? Because if you take a Warboss, you can get that.

You can take biker nobz as troop choices, the HQ whadzakka Gutzmek(please forgive any spelling mistakes) allows a nobz squad to be taken as a troop choise which allows you to add bikes to the nobs. The Warboss allows you take a biker squad as a troop choice, not nob bikers as a troop choise.

No. Completely Wrong.

A Warboss allows a single Nobz Unit to be Troops, who can be given Bikes.
Ghazgul, being a Warboss (Da Killiest of Dem All!), allows a single unit of Nobz unit to be Troops, who can be given Bikes.
WazDakka, being a Superspecialawesome Warboss, allows Biker Squads to be Troops.

Sorry, i did not have my codex in front of me. I knew either or the warboos or wazdakka was the only way to get a biker squad as troop choise. So i would not say I am completely wrong Gwar. I think you need to go back and look at the rules for grazgul there Gwar. I think you are completely wrong there on his profile. I believe that grazgul can take a squad of mega nobz as a troop choice, and mega armoured nobz cant ride bikes? Grazgul does not have a bike option at all in his profile.

Maybe think about not being so critical of everyone. GWAR

To answer the above question. Yes you can have biker squads as troop choices. Just take a look at the HQ's and they will let ya know which squad (nobz or biker squad) you can choose.

I agree with the sentiment, but this would be more effective if you weren't, um, wrong.

Ghazgkull's rule has the same wording as the normal Warboss rule; he allows one unit of Nobz to be taken as Troops. These Nobz can be mounted on Bikes, and in fact CANNOT be MegaNobz, as that is a different unit. MANZ are always Elites. Wazdakka, on the other hand, allows as many units of Warbikers as you want to be taken as Troops.

It's hard not to be critical of people who are wrong.

@net_junky - Speaking of going and having another look at the Ork codex, why not go and check the spelling of the name 'Ghazghkull'?

@Berzerker - They CAN be Meganobz - they just can't have bikes at the same time. But the rule clearly states 'allows one Meganobz or Nobz mob to be taken as a Troops choice.'

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

Okay, so the male version of "Cougar" is now officially "Albatross".

Maybe he was trying to distinguish between being critical, and being a jerk about it.

Lets be nice here, especially when you are incorrect as well. In fact, the codex quite clearly states that Nobs or Meganobz can be taken as troops. Yes, Nobz and Meganobz are different units, however the warboss rule allows for both.

Yes, you are right nob or mega nobz can be taken by 'Ghazghkull' but the question up above was in regards to bikers.

How about everyone lays off the personal remarks and just sticks to the topic?

net_junky: Ghaz allows one unit of Nobz or Meganobz to be taken as Troops. A Nobz biker mob is just a Nobz mob in which they have all been given bikes. So Ghaz allows you to take a Nobz Biker mob as Troops.
