Subject: [Discussion] Should we "Blacklist" certain topics in YMTC?

NOTE: I AM NOT A MOD/ADMIN/ALL MIGHTY LORD OF DAKKA (though the last one is debatable). I AM JUST TRYING TO STOKE CONSTRUCTIVE DISCUSSION. TAKE YOUR FLAMES AND TROLLS ELSEWHERE (or do them Via PM, I need a chuckle now and then). By Blacklist, I mean have a sticky at the top, kindly suggesting the newer members that Topic XYZ has been beaten to death, revived and Beaten some more, ground up and baked into a pie, the pie then fed to wolves who are are then hit by an Orbital Bombardment from no less than seventeen different Vessels, right before the Eldar direct Hive Fleet OhNomnomnom onto the planet before opening up a rift in the Warp to suck the Planet into Oblivion. Examples would include: Deffrollas, in any way shape or form (especially Deffrollas and Rams) God of War/Iron Will and No Retreat. Drop Pod Doors Stubborn vs Weaken Resolve And so on and so forth. Now, sadly, my Search fu is weak, so if others could be so kind as to provide links to previous discussions of the above topics, as well as suggesting others, I would be very appreciative.

Totally agree with you gwar, about 40% of the posts in YMDC are about similar topics as these and the same arguments come up AGAIN and AGAIN.

But what if the moderators have a pool going to see what the longest thread arguing, I mean discussing, each topic will be? What if Frazzled has $20 on six pages for the new PBS versus Stubborn thread? Can we take that away from him?

Me being a not-so-frequent poster on dakka or YMTC would really like this. The list should just be posted as a sticky thread with a list of things that should not be discussed.
With all honesty, I do not know whether or not there were any threads about half the gak I post because I am neither on here every day or want to spend the time looking through old threads about things that have already been discussed.
Call me lazy but honestly, how are you to just expect people to just dig through stuff on the internet? This is why google was created and this is why this blacklist should be created.

Let people ask, and let people post links to previous discussions for the answer.
A forum is for discussion and not just for topics you answered buried five pages back. Remind
them that there's a search feature, post something to help them either with searching for
the information or for answering the question itself, and then move on.
If you don't want to handle the question, don't handle it. If it's an obvious trolling
kind of question, report it to a mod. Automatically Appended Next Post: Actually I changed my vote. This discussion is not a rules discussion at all,
therefore according to RAW it must be blacklisted.

It's something the MOD have discussed and a similar issue has been raised before, as/when we decide what to do we'll let you all know.
