So in the Orcs n Goblins book it has options to upgrade certain units to big uns... in these passages it says

One unit in the army may be upgraded to Big 'Uns for +# points per model.

This is a unit upgrade option for several units... does this mean one unit of big uns for the entire army or one unit of each unit type with the listing can be big 'uns...

Example being can I have a unit of big un boyz and a unit of big un boar boyz since they both have the option?

I would think so. The rules in a unit's entry are only applicable to that unit unless there's reason to think otherwise.

I do not see anything in the FAQ to refute one unit per army.

I do have a wording questions. Do the entries say one unit of a type of orcs may be upgraded , for example, "One unit of Savage orcs may be upgraded to big 'uns for x points per model"? Or do all the entires specifically say "One unit per army may be upgraded"?

All the units that have the option have it written exactly as i typed the quote.

To my knowledge, each unit can possibly have one unit as Big 'Uns. In the last Army Book, it was a very specific "One unit in the army may be big 'uns." This book, however, you could have a Boyz, Savage Orc, Boar Boyz, and Savage Orc Boar Boyz unit as Big 'Uns. However, in most people's lists, it's essentially maybe one extra unit upgraded to Big 'Uns, as you rarely see more than one type of Boyz & Boar Boyz in any list (mainly because Boar Boyz of any sort & Savage Orcs are expensive).

Gorbad allows you to make as many units of each Big 'Uns.
