Yeah, yeah - the idea is as weird as it sounds. I'm interested in starting a Space Sharks "counts-as" Space Wolves army, and as such, really want to get in on the Thunderwolf goodness. That said, I want it to be thematic for the Space Sharks. I've pondered a variety of mounts that I could use for them and have discarded most of the pre-made GW mounts as not having the right feel for the Space Sharks. I've also looked around for appropriate "Land Shark" miniatures that I could use as mounts - sharks with big buff legs or such. And that is also pretty fail.

So, I'm thinking about kitbashing/scratchbuilding some cybernetic shark mounts a la Colonel Hammer's dognaught:

Granted, what I would be wanting would be substantially smaller than that (about half the size) and would also need to be cheaply enough replicable to be made into mounts for 15-16 models. I'm considering using AoBR Ork Deffkoptas as the base model as they're cheap and easy to get ahold of. But they've got the riders molded onto the model and I'd have to do some major disassembly of the model to get rid of them. I'm also considering SM or Ork bikes, or even DE Jetbikes, although these are all considerably more expensive ways to do it.

And even once I decide on which model to use as the base, I've got to figure out the legs - Sentinel legs and Dreadnought limbs are the first things that come to mind after ogling Hammer's dognaught, but considering how much smaller this would be, I'm wondering what else I might need to use - or if I'd just need to scratchbuild something (or have them be hover-vehicles - I mean, they are sharks, right, they don't need to have legs.) And then, what do I use for a head?

Is this going to get way too expensive fast? Or can anyone think of a way I can do this?

Oklahoma City, Ok.

i think it lookS freakin cool! i think it's "bigger" than what i would imagine a mount would look like.

Honestly depending on how good with greenstuff you are (I'm terrible) you could sculpt the full shark.
You could try to find regular shark toys as well and put jet packs on them or something.
Actually, whatever you do, the sharks need to have jetpacks... and lazors on their heads...
Sorry.

I don;t have many answers for you except ceoncerning the legs. Off the top of my head, could Necron Tomb Spyder legs work?

Probably your best bet is something that already looks fishy- an Eldar cruiser from BFG with a suitably angry shark head attached just might do the trick. Perhaps Chaos Cruisers would work as well. For the head, possibly Cold Ones with sharper points.

@Gitzbitah - I'd looked at the Imperial Navy ships - thought about flipping them upside down, but I hadn't checked out the Eldar. I also thought the Orks had some suitably sharky ones, too. The only problem with BFG is that those ships are expensive!

@Commander Endova - Huh. Hadn't thought about Tomb Spiders. I'll have to give them a look.

@Crimson Cobra - Well, of course they'll have frikkin' lasers on their heads!
