I'm looking to get some big blocks of foam, preferrably 2'X2', and THICK! I'm going to use them to make a sewer board for mordheim by using a butane torch to melt tunnels into them.
Anyone know where I can pick these up at, and what kind would be the best to use?

Hm... sounds like a couple sheets of 3" blueboard glued together is the best I can come up with. I don't know of any other way to get that quantity at that thickness.

Go to homehardware and ask for insulation foam. They have huge pieces that are thick enough for a game board and you can get them for about $5 or less for one.

The pink insulation foam at the local Menards comes in 4'x8' sheets, with thicknesses upwards of 2". If you need it any thicker than that you'll probably have to glue squares together yourself.

Id test the whole 'blowtorch melting holes' idea outside on a small piece before you really get started. Sounds dangerous. Could start a fire even though the stuff is fire retardant.
Id very certainly do that outside in the open because the chemicals released by melting and burning that stuff is toxic as hell.
|
It could be worse, you could be on fire. |

Yeah, I would do it outside and I would probably wear a gasmask... and it will most likely catch fire, especially if its glued using a flammable solvent.
