Do most people still play with the old legion rules?
they were my favorite part of chaos and i was devastated when they got cut.

Seeing the 6000 points of iron warriors you've got in your signature, I can imagine it was a big hit to have legions cut. I think that unless you are playing in a really competitive circle of strict gamers, asking you opponent if they were ok with your sergeants having servo harnesses should be fine. Unfortunately, the days of 4 HS are gone, so it doesn't feel the same. Just remember that LR can be a dedicated transport for termies, and then when you look at the table in a 2500 game, and see 3 Vindicators and 2 Land raiders, you can be content.

To more directly answer your question: No. I do not use the old legion rules.

The reduction to 3 HS really threw me off, and the lack of recognition that
Iron Warriors are getting in the new codex is a little disturbing, especially since new legions get alot more coverage.

I think it's just a matter of time before the net codex comes out, and hopefully, it will swing away from the renegades and back to the legions. That's just a hope anyway.

I started playign just as the new codex caem out so i never got to play "proper" iron warriors. I do have a squadron of Bassies for apoc games though.

And am working on gettign servo arms etc for some sergeants and other random marines to make the army more fluffy.

Officially: who knows.
Unofficially: there are some well written ones floating around the internet for friendly/consent usage.

Though there is a lack of 'flavor' with the 'renegade' CSM codex, the door is open to a much more loose 'count as' age...so it's not so bad IMO.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

A guy over on Heresy Online has written a 5th ed chaos codex which is quite good. In it he has basically made up marks for each traitor legion.

For example. A Lord with the mark of iron (iron warriors essentially) alows your army to re-roll scatter on ordnance weapons and also has the tank hunters special rule for himself. Any squads with the mark of iron get Tank Hunters. I'm goign to talk to the guys i play with and see if they will let me use these rules.

i would like to have that link aswell, i'm working on my army as if the old rules were still in place i.e getting
basilisks and such. But i'll only use them for apoc unless my friends are cool with it.

Legion rules would be great. I wasn't there for them, but having my own fluffy Death Guard would be great.

Though how thick would the codex really be for all of them. You could pull a GW and release ten thousand different codices but still.

Let the galaxy burn.

The codex i remember was maybe a little thicker than the current one, my main gaming friend still has it and its the same size.
they only dedicated about a page to each legion, which is vastly more than in the newest codex, which doesn't even give a summary of each.

Exactly, the codex as whoel applies to every army, btu each legion got about a page of additional rules or mods to the existing rules.

Example: Iron Warriors coudl take bassies and vindicators where no-one else could.

I can't access those forums here at work but i'll have alook when i get hoem and post a link. The guy put his finished codex in the thread as an attachment and it's in Word i think so dead easy to download.

Here's the link to that thread on Heresy. You'll probably need to sign up to view it but the thread includes the complete codex as an attachment in Word format.

I know this belongs in the news/rumors page but you might be happy to hear that 2 local GWs and a Hobby shop in my area all seem to be on the same page under the theory of a proposed "Legions of Chaos" codex. Given that GW wants more money, I could see it happening, however this rumor is circulated by many of the same folks that believe in the "upcoming" plastic 40K DP so take it as you will.

Just a follower of Tzeentch doing my part to my god by offering even the smallest glimmer of hope!
