Never used them before... so I have a few questions. The second is dependent on the first.

First pff... does the ability to shoot at a deep striker work against every deep striker in a turn or just on one deep striking usit out of all that landed.

Second... assuming that it can be used each time something lands, can the same unit fire at each unit that lands or does it have to be different units firing at each landing unit.

Third... If one of my units shoots in this way can it then shoot again when my turn comes around?

Sorry for sucking like this but I play about 6 games a year if I am lucky.

I play...

1) All of them
2) Yes, the same unit can fire every time
3) Yes, this is in essence a "free" shot outside of the shooting phase. If you have used any one shot weapons, or other limited use such as a manticore, that WOULD count as your shot with that weapon - so if you fire a hellstrike missile at one unit you could not fire it again at another unit. Same for combi-plasma, etc.

1. All per turn.

2. It can be the same unit.

Don't use mystics. Everytime I go up against one I come out the worse for it. One time, my entire reserves (3 drop pods and some termies) bit it because they got off free shots at me.

Its not fair man. Its not fair.

But in all semi-seriousness, they are very useful if using them in this manner.

If I give you a cookie, will you go away? If I give you the bag, will you go far, far away?

wouldn't they shoot at the drop pod. the shooting is done before the unit is allowed to move. So they haven't disembarked from the drop pod.

Per the FAQ they shoot at either the drop pod or the unit disembarking, but not both.

Sorry I didnt explain further. I meant 3 droppods of troops. They got out first and were then shot to ribbons. There was a discussion about if the shooting was before or after the pod landed. We decided that it would be after landing and disembarking, and then they could take shots.

Does this go against some rules for mystics/droppods?

Daemonhunters

Q. Do Inquisitorial Mystics allow “free shots” at
units arriving by Drop Pod?
A. Yes. The shooting is resolved after the Drop
Pod lands and the passengers have disembarked.
Either the Drop Pod or the disembarked unit may
be the targeted, but not both.

Thanks for the answers. I thought it worked that way but I wanted to make sure on it.

@Paulguise... You can at least be content that I am actually taking them in a pure deamonhunter force... not as allies. As far as I am concearned my army needs all the help it can get.

No it does not. I have fielded a pure 1850 GK force with no armor and received a very solid 2nd place. GK armies are about finesse and setting the tempo and where combat occurs.
